Funny like "haha" or funny like "ha?"

As with yesterday's prompt I don't think I have that one funny character. Some like J. are more easily cracking jokes but she isn't doing it for laughs alone. She doesn't take herself very serious if she can make other feel relax and she also likes to play a bit dumb sometimes. She prefers to be underestimated rather than sticking out as the sharp knife, it's hard enough with 198 cm as and a back that easily count's for two people.

How much does your MC value communication in their relationships and/or friendships? Are they prone to being misunderstood?

Kira values them highly, after all she is the XO/Captain and has to be understood correctly. She sometimes can be almost brutally blunt, upfront and open. While in her private communication she isn't that unsimilar for some parts she prefers a more closed off and interpretable language. She loves flirting with J. and J. With her but both know that this is not romantic but simply to make the other feel valued and appropriated, and J. is almost certainly not interested in anything more than close emotional bonds or not sexual body contact.

Arkham learns to communicate more openly.ejole on board even if she would prefer not communicating at all but even that is a sort of communication so being open is the lesser evil.

Ash: as the ships AI prefers clear cut and open communication.

Do you have any SCs who later become MCs in your WIP?

Not planned yet but I hope to give everyone at the crew enough space and time to shine.

It something that I really miss with current Star Trek other than SNW.
Discovery especially didn't do much outside a scene here and there which is incredibly wasted potential.

I'm writing a crew of around forty people which will be a challenge and next to SC's as secondary characters I will also have TC's tertiary characters and back round ones. Yes it's overly ambitious, I know. 😅

I want the characters to feel as real as possible we will see how I manage this one day in the hopefully not so far future.

Are there any words that you’re actively trying to use less often (or replace) in your writing?

A lot I try to not use ableist, sexiest or racist words. I try to not use insults based on looks or workfields, I try to not use our universe names for worlds that doesn't share our history... As a very easy example almost everyone understands what a Molotov Cocktail means or Guerilla Attacks. This are historical grown and fueled terms. In as an example Ferun the world of DND (at the moment) there never whas a man called Mololtov thus no one ever would understand the meaning of a Molotov Cocktail.
For swearing and insults I try to come up with my own terms.
That said I am very much limited to my own knowledge, upbringing and capabilities to unlearn things and recontextualize such concepts and words. The German insult that translates into son of a b**** is ment as an insult to female sex workers as a parent thus I almost eradicated its usage from my own words.

AI no one knows how this "aloof" entity dresses if speaker or wall panels hiding speakers count I would say wall panel just for the gag.

Antagonist Junior (AJ or Ariaene Johnsen), has a very mission focused repertoire.
Usually it's the older Alliance Standard but Modified Protect Life Mark 4 series of armors patched up with some not so standard issued pieces and repairs not in a fallout style repair but indeed with different technologies crafted carefully into the armor. As an example they uses an energy shield that goes beyond the average Armor shielding of every Alliance Soldier and deploys from their left wrist. The standard issued helmet is replaced with a glass dome that unfolds from their left shoulders blade breaker. Ariaene is also good in infiltration missions with setting appropriate attire that hides a lot of tech and equipment. In unusual ➡️

What inspired the story of your (latest) WIP?

The main thing is still Star Ryde (low energy levels and maintaining a half way normal live be damned) so its still Star Trek and Mass Effect mainly. Followed by influences from a lot of other stuff and the discarded attempt of creating reality based SciFi.

For my other Brainchild which is called Cyboarpunk (and I can't decide how to write it) it's Super Mario meets Cyberpunk, but it also is probably absorbing my Superhero universe and be folded into some connection to Star Ryde...

Star Rude, Star Ryder, Star Tyde are all misspellings of Star Ryde thanks to my phone that sparked enough ideas for plot bunnies.

What is your MC’s greatest weakness, and do other characters know what it is?

We had this question several times over the span of several years & Prompts & I always said it depends.
All my characters share some weaknesses.
This is something I realized lately but I don't think it's a cliche or a flaw in my writing.
It's kinda repeating pattern to be honest.
To quote a not nearer specified fictional figure: "it is quite elementary my dear companion."
It's not unlike a constant, so to say that is very, pretty much (yes I know you don't use this two words together to describe something, let's say it's artistic freedom) physical.

Cold, heat, time & despite its being possibly only a side effect of 3 Dimensional space time and not a constant as we imagine, gravity. Let's be honest we all fall for it.

Can you share a snippet of your antagonist’s backstory with us?

Since AJ aka Antagonist Junior or Ariaene Johnson has plenty of development history let us shad some light onto the "Antagonist Infernale" or short AI.

AI is an unknown actor in the Universe. No one knows exactly who is behind a galaxy wide reaching network of spies, soldiers, puppeted officials, tendrils in the military and only communicating through electronic devices, messages or their personal currier & Groundhog AJ.
AJ always gets resources allocated to support their mission, this includes at least one fleet of dozens of ships, soldiers & even for the highly advanced species in Star Ryde advanced, alien tech.
No one has managed to pinpoint AI because it's always ends with AJ, an escape of AJ or dead ends.
Only one thing seems clear where AI is involved its most likely not a good thing. So far it only seems to be to stop the Eltaryn invasions but who knows.

Write about a recent decision that your SC has made.

Well not very recent basically in the past on this network and in the future of the story.

Dr. Waberi and Dr. Kaiden and the third unexplored doctor, decided to save Kira's live with an frowned upon practice. Setting a new untested and self modified Neural Interface Network Snail into a damaged Brain to connect her to the ships Artificial Intelligence, before removing the old one and giving the damaged parts the recovery needed according to medical procedures. That said the situation would have been dire. The Ghoz'Tarc only has minor medical facilities, since it's usually a ship that would not operate so far outside of Union territory or for more than 3 weeks. Loosing the Captain and it's XO1/First officer would have dealt a bad blow to their secret mission and the morals of the crew. It's already bad enough even if command said they will face trial afterwards, as Kira will have.

Not really at this point I kinda like my erotic scene between Arkham and Kira which exists as a three patter in the answers here. So I will probably copy it into the WIP and maybe bolster it up a bit.
I quite like another scene with AJ and their memory not working at all at that moment, I cried tears of sorrow while writing it, which means I'm on to something or simply well to easily moved to tears. (evidence suggest otherwise). But as it is with slow burning, low energy stuff meets a WIP I can't show all... yet... Because otherwise I have even less to present and surprise possible future readers.

SC POV: Describe a recent dream.

Not many scenes of a dream of any SC are planned. Basically zero.
So I skip this one simply because I don't know who to take and what the content would be...

Having a freaking crew of 40 sometimes comes down badly with my inability to decide on too much to choose from. I guess I should trim down the crew but a realistic 4-6 rotation on a starship needs at least 40 people...

Maybe someone had a bad dream that an attack halfed the crew only to wake up and being reliefed that it only was a dream...

The Knox family chili packs a punch my friends don't eat too much.

Actually that would make a good scene to mix in after cooking, a sudden tonal shift going from cozy family dinner to full blown space horror.🤔

Does your antagonist enjoy reading? Tell us about the material they would choose to read.

Ariaene (AJ) has no other option if they wants to remember any stuff. They has an elaborate system of diaries, tattooed notes, writing on their skin and post it like notes inside their armor.

To access all of this information, they uses a combination of short writing they remembers like they just graduated in that field, their Holos extraordinary Scanner and officially mostly illegal Nanotech.

AJ's Holo is able to trace the position of ink particles on a page and determine the the text or drawing without the need of touching the media. This level of accuracy is still in the beginning otherwise and often only seen in much bigger contraption like satellites. Thanks to the nanites AJ can access this knowledge but the nanites aren't able to repair the damage that is responsible for the memory issues and it doesn't survive long.

Silas & frightening

Silas opened her eyes, something was very of. It felt like everything was slightly tilted to the side and gravity couldn't resist to tilt as well. She couldn't remember how she got here. In front of her was a eerily castle, no a house. It shifted its size got smaller Silas could have sworn. She realized that she wasn't in her uniform, it looked like a cheap Kigurumi or a animal costume, but it felt like standing up to the neck in warm worms or being surrounded by eels. SC POV: When was the last time you felt needed?

Charleston Trawella Chief Engineer aboard the Ghoz'Tarc:
"I'm needed all the time, chief engineer isn't something you don't want to need and even if ASHLEI is incredibly sofisticated in repairing her self but her drones have limitations and she only can maintain most systems. I constantly regulate and recalibrate Systems developing strategies and theories to improve the performance and output in case of combat. And of course I monitor the prototype stuff I installed on the refit.
But really needed, I felt as Arkham asked me for input on her little pet project inside one of the containers. I have a bit more insight into that than most others I guess and if it works it might be revolutionary for her and the Alliance/Union."

Who should the readers be “rooting for” in your WIP?

The "good" folks and hopefully some background characters as much as parts of the antagonists team, writing faceless henches with recognizable characters... I already had better ideas ...
If people root for the BBE - Aliens I will have failed or not? Pro tip don't add tentacles to your Aliens in this DNAge if you want them to be disgusting, wayyyyyyyyyy to many things I have seen... (Not to kink shame but the Internet is a dwell of... Wonders). 💩😬😅
