#PennedPossibilities 944 โ€” Have you ever written anything while inebriated that you later ended up keeping in your WIP?

I've been considering it for certain chapters. I think it might be interesting to have a better grasp of the characters' perspectives and such. Although I strongly suspect that it would require heavy editing. But I suspect the dialogue would be really funny.

#PennedPossibilities 943: Any real life people who share traits?

Physically? Epsilon characters used in RPG games tended to be casted. And a friend of a friend 25 years ago looked eerily like Carrie. No conscious influence on my characters though.

Non-physical traits? As many have said, it's mostly aspects of myself. If I ever borrow from RL, it's not from one sourced individual (perhaps because people confuse me). One exception, not from the WIP or Epsilon.

I have never written while drunk. I must try this thing. just to see what utter insanity comes out.
now if I've roleplayed while drunk. yes. and well one was a very bad idea. ended up ditching the char not long afterwards cuz nothing like pissing off the entire race you were roleplaying as.

At least a third of Cascade was written while drinking. Less of Blight because my alcohol consumption dropped dramatically when covid started, but non-zero stretches of it were written tipsy.

Have you ever written anything while inebriated that you later ended up keeping in your WIP?

No. Alcohol is reserved for social situations celebrating, like seeing my partner for the first time after 8 weeks or longer, family reunion or the rarest occasion I want to get drunk. Even as rare as it is, last time was mid global pandemic shutdown one, I'm not abstinent but I avoid alcohol as much as possible even as an ingredient until it's something I find appropriate. Than it's clearly limited to my goal. I had hard alcohol problems and as a child of a successful 30+ years dry alcoholic I know what I'm doing to myself boozing myself. I went to hospitals as a teen because I didn't knew. I don't need drugs other than Nicotine on occasion and caffeine daily.
Weed makes me crazy organized for a time but a that shit is to expansive and I don't like turf that much that I want that ugly taste.๐Ÿคข

So TLDR no, because in social situations, writing isn't what I do.

944. Have you ever written anything while inebriated that you later ended up keeping in your WIP?

I'm honestly not sure. Generally if I'm inebriated, it's because I'm trying to be social, not trying to be creative, so I don't think I've written all that much while inebriated. I can't rule it out, but there is nothing specific that comes to mind.

944. Have you ever written anything while inebriated that you later ended up keeping in your WIP?

No. The weirdest stuff I wrote in the past was when nodding off while still sitting at my desk. Completely strange stuff, and it wasn't used anywhere.

Hmm, no, not really. I'll have a glass of wine while I'm at it, but not much more than that.

I have written while high, and that worked. I brew a good space tea with chamomile and cannabis and that offers a nice serene state of mind to work with.
