Is Military Queer Cozy Utopian Dystopia SciFi a thing?

Maybe I should do a genre reveal party once it's on its way?
Like a gender reveal party for baby's but actually a useful waste of time and resources?

SciFi because will it ever be finished is written somewhere in between the stars. I guess it will be finish* when humanity arrives at Alpha Centauri.

*Maybe I should write it in Danish instead of Finish after all Denmark is closer to where I live...

Btw this garbled mess of an answer is why I don't answer much about my characters atm... Welcome to my brain jumping all over the place and it doesn't even has legs...

Have you thought of any alternative endings for your WIP, or have you already decided on the perfect ending?

Indeed I have plenty to choose from 3 are considered for the canon ending and I even have a fourth in which all 3 would work but would completely throw if the perspective of the story, atm I'm looking how to put hints for all 3 and the forth ending into the story, despite writing such stories as they just happen to exist in my head the moment I'm writing, I also have some key factors and moments I consider "must haves" this might have to do with my love for open/multiple end games that spark multiverse story possibilities. I worked on a fanfiction of Fallout 4 in which both possible main characters meet at the end of the story despite that the non chosen character get iced in the beginning. It also sparked a Time Paradox idea how all my Fallout Characters from all games are related to each other.

How much does your SC value communication in their relationships with others? Are they prone to being misunderstood?

Jenkins is a bit scarce with words he tries to communicate clear and mostly uses Union standard on missions. He isn't big about revealing his soul and heart to others or his inner most thoughts, that said he lets shine through more than he might realize.

Okay, Jenkins just hit a switch in my head and the whole character got a shit load of backstory more than before... Fork! 😅 That changes a lot but explains a lot too... Not sure I like it, but it even makes sense with his style... Luckily I have to "fill up" around 10 - 20 years from "now" til he show's up.

What does your MC do for a living? Are they self-employed, or do they work for someone else?

Exist because this is enough to get universal income paid by the Union.

She works however as a soldier (and gets that payment on top til she hits the upper income break of course).
Her rank is Commander in the Alliance, the military Strike Force of the Union that mainly exists to prevent further attacks from the invading Eltaryn forces, which are the main reason for the Unions existence in the first place. Her official posting is as honor guard commander onboard the Phoenix the Unions Flagship and mobile government seating. Her real job is as a S.H.A.D.E. to deal with secret missions and keep up the Law in regions that are considered soon to be warzones if her actual mission don't plays out as planned and she recently acquired the rank of Acting Captain do to the loss of the former captain, her Sister...

Alias Abbisheek Paktii
Flight Commander First Class posted at the Phoenix Fleet, her actual posting Flight Commander on the Ghoz'Tarc.
She is one of the usually 5 Head staff members, 4 since the loss of the Captain. Her work next to steering the Ghoz'Tarc is to schedule the other pilots working shift's together with the Captain and the XO's to make sure the mission is a success and give ship performance evaluations to the engineering department.
It's her responsibility to bring them into the action, keep the ship alive and carry them home with minimal losses, non at all would be favorable.

Ashlei
A.S.H.L.E.I. is the Ghoz'Tarc or at least her AI. Her job is the whole reason for her existence. She is programmed to support and protect the crew at all cost but also to make sure the mission is a success, her responsibilities include running the ships automated Systems and act as the interface

She programs the Enzyme Printers and regulates the nutritional supplements, the air filtration, gravity plating, sanitary systems, surrounding control, control the engines and the RYDE Core, etc.
The Ghoz'Tarc can be controlled without her but, she makes every wheel in the machinery run as smooth as Bethosian Silk over a Asza'ni newborns skin.

What does a perfect world look like to your MC?

"A perfect world would be just a tiny bit imperfect, so we still have things to strive for.
Otherwise?
Equal rights for everyone, free coverage of basic needs however they look like, living free without fear & yes I would prefer this to be the case even with our enemies, the Eltaryn.
We don't need some sort of perfect paradise just enough understanding to form goals together working towards a better future together.
The Union is pretty much the best we achieved & I would keep a lot of it.
Universal income, high valued work, freedom of speech & thought, individual responsibility for persons & companies, general right & duty of education, freedom of living where you want, universal healthcare, housing & childcare. I believe that if we know the needs of our neighbors we will find a way to incorporate their views & needs in a fair society."

Okay that one works

"Friendship" Station wasn't just an injury of her body but a really severe one. With the age of 6 Kira was hit with rubble & debris, as a intermediate floor & parts of the upper Talithi structure crashed down on her,polluting the Terran area with uncleaned O² & high CO² concentration. Friendship Station is a BIG station dedicated to the first meeting between the ages old pen pal species, build with plans from Terra & Morrakhar so both species could met in the safety of a home planet close habitat, at L5.
In seconds the large park became a burning death trap & only few survived. From Kiras family of 5 she was the only one. Her uncle & later adoptive Father saved her by finding, sharing his oxygen & digging her, pretty much mangled body, out singlehandedly. Kira survived thanks to him.

Do you enjoy the process of worldbuilding?

Enjoying isn't the right word, most of the times I love it but as with characters it often just pops up I my head & doesn't go away anymore. Instead it starts a life of its own, this is how Cube world started out, Nacht des Mahr, Star Ryde, my DND characters, my Cyberpunk Characters, etc a simple spark is enough to turn into a wildfire of ideas & inspiration can come from everything. Listening to music & seeing a tribal design somewhere suddenly I think of a person dancing tribal designs into reality. Stupid word puns created a Shaman inspired by South American folklore & music. The Necrodancer, a world without Iron in which ropes replaced most of the metal stuff, see world a giant ey ball in space or a world on which dragons & princesses are switched. I had a magical academy story (like the unseen university) because of a drop of milk in my coffee.

LJenkins: "She knows what she is doing, it's not a secret that she and a part of the crew where friends before and at first I had my doubts but her leadership style seems fitting for this mission and the crew she and Captain Johanson picked.

Troika: "I don't know if you could call it a skill that Kira reminds me to my daughters, technically she couldn't be one, but sometimes I almost wish she was. I hope my ladies turn out as capable as she does. Something about her style makes it seem so easy. Which clealy is not. But she makes ist look like.

Crosby:"Kira is a damn good ambush predator with her sneaking around and placing this tiny paper figurines in you stuff. I haven't catched her once. And you haven't seen anything scared like someone talking about the captain only to suddenly hear this sipping from a cup behind them."

She is skilled & has a good sense.
Oh and believe me dang if I never heard a betosian Farmer curse the Swex out of something I'm sure they sound exactly like Arkham. I like that she is able to communicate the most complex emotions with short single bursts of words & she has enough spine to go head to head with Kira. I now her since the Academy & she is a silent storm but Arkham is the loud one.

Talisa:"Arkham is like caramel, only in the heat she shows how sweet & carrying she can be to select few. I like that she says what she thinks about someone & she is an incredible pilot, this ship is almost 200 meters long but she lets the Ghoz'Tarc dance like a swan in a hot Terran summer night's moonlight.

Dr.Kaiden:"Arkham is a perfect patient everything else is sealed between doctor & patient."

Kira:"I don't think about it to much if I die hopefully quick and upright."

Arkham:"I find it really gruesome what happens to Eltaryn corpses, first their seem to dry up, than they crack up like a volcano and than they evaporate into dust clouds even if they are still alive and captured. Not that I emphasize with a species that only slaughters others but Swex... It looks gruesome."

Ashlei:"Being hacked and forced against my will to hurt my crew. Even if they would take me out immediately I assume it wouldn't be without casualties."

Where was your antagonist (or your villain) born?

Villains:
The Eltaryn are of unknown origin, the earliest encounters are Terra, Morrakhar (Talithi Homeworld) & Trellwa'ni ships close to a region in space that is called Ghost Stars, mainly because the amount of habitable worlds in that area is very low & even star systems tend to be more isolated as in the rest of the galaxy.

Antagonists:
AI could be born everywhere they make a big deal out of the mystery shrouding them. No name no identificational patterns & even the voice differs from encounter to encounter without any traces it's hard to find an origin.

AJ, Ariaene Johnsen
Ariaene stems from a beautiful garden world, at least that's what they believe. They has fractured memories about a childhood on a lush beautiful world with mangrove like forests & large corn fields together with KJ.

What is your MC’s greatest achievement?

I don't feel like answering for Star Ryde (again).
So here is
C7B0arPU4K! The 7 is a y, 0 is an o and the 4 a N Cyboarpunk, Working title.
A FF of "Super Mario" in a World that looks suspiciously like Cyberpunk 2077's.

One MC will be Mario Luigi, one part of the Luigi Brothers, the other is Luigi Luigi, a small plumbing company.
After work they often fix stuff at the Mushroom a meatspace, both often visit, for free so the Bar's customers don't have to sh*t on the street outside.
That is one hell of a job he does, but the greatest achievement must be to get into the Love lives of Daisy the owner of the Mushroom & Yoshi that full body Bio-Conversion, green skinned techy that is responsible for the Toadstools the Mushrooms tiny VR pods. Luigi rather doesn't want to "get involved with that piping" & sticks to Pauline the Barkeep.

AJ: Ariaene got lucky in that regard, always in close range of better medical facilities sadly that doesn't goes for their memory.
AI: is a voice in a speaker heck maybe even 3 tiny voices in a trenchcoat posing as a speaker so no one knows.

Robert K. Bowser - has a nasty scar on his left cheek which is why they use to call him Zebra if nobody is listening. And of course it's not the only one in a world where replacement Body parts are a dime and a dozen scars are everywhere.

I translated and reworked the 3 answers slightly, into English in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday realizing how rusty my translation skills have become (while speaking English or German I switch thought languages and this parts seemingly disconnected over time).
Wanted to share it anyways but didn't feel for it (lack of self esteem) and don't know where to put it exactly in my weird posting trees, also last time I did it I think one person noticed it... So I'm also feeling insecure about that ... 🤷🏾‍♀️😅

LJenkins: "I'm not sure what I should think about the decision to make Commander Knox the leader or her style of running things. She is in an emotional compromised state & even worse, fused with our ships AI. I think bras did a dirty one on her & the crew, I don't like all this modern stuff with friends & family on swex warships. But it's the military that I'm sworn too. However I would prefer her to step aside & heal properly, instead of running that mission. We talk an almost fatal injury, untested & unregulated procedures. But I guess she could easily take control as a SHADE, she has the right to, even if she only pulled that move once & was found to be right. I guess I'm overly concerned But nhack what's next bringing you children to war day?
Yes, all Union ships have families or animal companions but we are Alliance we are the attack force,

Most of them have something in common with me to a degree, yes even the Fallout 76 cannibal, who's main goal in life is to keep her adopted daughter alive and away from cannibalism or similar deranged Wasteland practices, after all she is a Doctor with pre war level of education even if she was born inside a Vault. As she went out into the wasteland with her family they got captured by a group of cannibals which kept them hungry but fed and I don't go further into details what they have done to her specifically (no sexual assault). It's my feeling of right or wrong that I used as a pattern with a twist and my compassion for loved ones and the feeling of desperate hunger.

For AJ in Star Ryde I use my feeling of being misplaced in this world...

What does your MC typically keep in their pockets?

Most stuff isn't in pockets in the future at least in the military.
Almost every item has a dedicated space on the suit/uniform (in case of hull breach etc).

Rest is connected with the personal Holo (Future Smart Phone) or their NIN port if they have one.

On mission it comes down to ammunition/energy packs, medicine packs and what ever a soldier is specialized in, plus survival gear, that isn't part of the suit, or mission specific gear.

As an example all Alliance soldiers carry a knife with them concealed in a special slot on their legs/arms or backs (personal preference).
It's a survival tool that can heat/cool its blade and start vibrating in high frequency (limited uses before it has to charge). It's not very good as a weapon but can make a big difference in survival situations, the bio sign monitor and a military grade Holo.

Everyone knows the BBEGs the Eltaryn, it seems that the fewest species and worlds haven't been hit at least once by their crusade (?) against other species. Throw a stone & you will probably hit someo who can tell a story about the "blue 'rillaz & roaches."

Ariaene (AJ) & Kira meet on the mission area from time to time & so far Ariaene could evade capture, all Kira knows their is this androgynous person that always shows up where they shouldn't & despite wearing older Alliance gear does not communicate or cooperate & even acts hostile at times. For AJ Kira ist a nuisance.

Ash knows them through the encounter & Arkham only from stories/debriefings.

AI seems to know more than they let shine through but AJ doesn't seem to be interested.

While we kept living on isolated worlds like it's 2129 with capitalism, monarchy, religions etc earth went to hell, home didn't cared for us otherworldly, we found ways of surviving trading with aliens that where friendly, 200 years later big shiny ships swoop in & look what we see humans calling them self terrans now, being part of an intergalactic empire & tell us they are here to help us... What a swex story right? I grew up with 'don't trust them they are evil.' They only care for us because of our power & resources. The typical swex you hear from capitalists, monarchists & bought out "Democratic" leaders.
It turns out I like the Union & the Alliance enough to upset my mum."

At least Dad and my brother get it."

The Antagonists
AI: The only thing that isn't a secret it exists, has power & control over people.
Ariaene (AJ): What secrets Ariaene keeps is unknown even to them self, there is some cruel practicality on besides of AI to keep them in their services. Since they can't remember with certainty anything & only gets fractured memories, if anything, if they try to remember. They don't ask much, to much planning costs time that AJ doesn't have.

The Bad guys.
The Eltaryn, the only things that are known, they are probably two species (or one with incredible dimorphism), maybe one clan/religion or folk. They are bluish to purplish (like through a bad filter) they have gorilla likes that are armed like Mad Max & Cockroach likes that have biological weapons, they are hostile, their tech scatters to dust as their dead do.

Tell us if your MC has a healthy lifestyle, diet, etc.

Kira: trains a lot, constantly 'vibrating" or "vibing" Dr Kaiden considers her on the brink of an eating disorder.

Arkham: tries to stay healthy hates workouts sits most of the time as the pilot.

Ashlei: she doesn't eat or sleep at all but consumes fuel in rough quantities like it usually is if you are a space ship.

I can live with praise as long it doesn't come from someone on my Homeworld. You see if someone praises you it's more often than not that they want something from you. Took me two years to accept that people in the Union rarely praise you to guild trip you. I wonder how my dad and my brother got so different. Well one came after the other so it is at least some nurturing involved in one case."

Does your MC have a habit they’re struggling to overcome?

Kira at heart is a very trusting person and tends to favor a second, third or fourth change.
Since she is in command she struggles with this part of her.

Arkham tries to open up bit in general because she understands that is the crew she has to rely on and that relies on her.

Ash Humor can be of putting. She likes to to make very dark jokes if you don't give her anything to limit the answer range, well dark for biological born entities. Since most AI in literature are either forgettable, sexualized or outright evil from our perspective she tends to share the humor of the later ones.
