What does your MC typically keep in their pockets?

Most stuff isn't in pockets in the future at least in the military.
Almost every item has a dedicated space on the suit/uniform (in case of hull breach etc).

Rest is connected with the personal Holo (Future Smart Phone) or their NIN port if they have one.

On mission it comes down to ammunition/energy packs, medicine packs and what ever a soldier is specialized in, plus survival gear, that isn't part of the suit, or mission specific gear.

As an example all Alliance soldiers carry a knife with them concealed in a special slot on their legs/arms or backs (personal preference).
It's a survival tool that can heat/cool its blade and start vibrating in high frequency (limited uses before it has to charge). It's not very good as a weapon but can make a big difference in survival situations, the bio sign monitor and a military grade Holo.
