Congratulations to Elon Musk for making cars so bad that no-one can tell if a carbomb has just happened or if the car just did that.
Any sufficiently shit automobile manufacturing is indistinguishable from terrorism.
@Nickiquote Just yesterday a Tesla cybertruck caught fire on a local (to me) dealership lot...

Cybertruck catches fire at DeKalb County Tesla dealership

A Tesla Cybertruck went up in flames overnight on the lot of a dealership in Decatur.

Atlanta News First
@DecaturNature @Nickiquote Nope. Nada. Can’t be. Elon said they’ve never seen anything like this before. Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
@DecaturNature @Nickiquote That looks like a tyre was set alight.
@anne_twain @DecaturNature @Nickiquote
There's temperature control electronics in that area as well as the part of the battery pack. Altho, it doesn't look like it was hot enough to have involved the battery.

@DecaturNature @Nickiquote

In fact, there's a cybershit fire every day
🤣🤣

Repo Man: Sometimes people just explode

@fgbjr @Nickiquote

I have that sometimes when I meet bureaucracy or plain stupidity…

@Nickiquote I accept Musk's claim that vehicle telemetry indicates no problem with the vehicle itself, as much as I dislike him and that vehicle. Looks like either extreme incompetence on the operator's part, some kind of accident, or intentional.

@Nickiquote I add one fact to your (sadly true) idea:

Volkswagen leak exposed location data for 800,000 electric cars

A recent data leak exposed the location information of around 800,000 electric Volkswagen vehicles, according to a report from Der Spiegel.

The Verge
@Nickiquote @Gorfram Championing an incomparably shit automobile design is indistinguishable from brain damage.

@Nickiquote ISIS (or whatever name you use) has been advocating the use of automobiles and trucks for terror attacks since at least 2017.

(The truck used in the attack in New Orleans was reported to contain an ISIS flag.)

Cars as WMD.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/11/01/561327621/as-isis-promotes-vehicle-attacks-terrorists-strike-in-europe-and-u-s

@Nickiquote @Elleaster I read in a few places that there were fireworks in the truck. So either it was a suicide bomber or a MAGA dumbshit pulling into valet parking while smoking in a car full of fireworks. Can’t decide which is more plausible.
@Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster If it was a suicide bomber, they were pretty incompetent, considering it didn't even appear to damage the hotel doors the car was next to. But of course suicide bombers can be incompetent, fortunately.
@kcivey @Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster well I mean they can always learn for the next time... 🙊

@kcivey @Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster

I'll put you down as a vote for MAGA dumbshit, then...

@Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster If it's fireworks shouldn't the explosion be colourful and pretty?
@rhelune @Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster apparently there were colorful displays. According to reporting in NY times at least.

@rhelune @Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster

The video shows those ejected from the initial explosion – that weren't consumed by it – detonating as they hit the street.

@mackaj @rhelune @Lundemo @Nickiquote @Elleaster Lithium pieces thrown out of battery pack also look like fireworks when it ignites individually.

@Nickiquote on the video is largely spunds like fireworks. So im guessing a maga bro coming to the temple ready to celebrate murica and somehow the vegas sun through the teslas glass or something lit one of the fireworks? Hard to tell.

Lets let an investigation happen before we assume its a tesla issue or an act of terror.

@0ddj0bb @Nickiquote I think the "fireworks" are the battery cells "popping"

I think people don't fully realise just how frequent Tesla fires are. Elon has been slow in adopted LFP batteries which are much safer than older chemistry, and the "structural" packs Tesla use in many of their models are prone to catastrophic failure as the pa k itself is directly subjected to loading stresses of the vehicle when it corners or has a wheel in the air (something the CT should be able to bear given its "offroad" credentials - but remember it doesn't actually have a proper 4WD chassis frame)

@Syulang @Nickiquote does a battery cell popping sound like a whistle going off?

@Syulang @Nickiquote and it has been confirmed it was fireworks as well as canisters of fuel.

So maybe someone lit a ciggy and didnt realize its the fumes that catch fire? I dunno. Could also be a planned thing. What a way to die though as a self unalive moment.

@Nickiquote Legal Thought of modern tech: If the car was self-driving with no passengers - and then exploded - who would be legally liable for any damages or even manslaughter?

@Nickiquote

The AI of the car thought the time and place were just right …

@Nickiquote Or are change lanes and come to sudden stop and get riders killed from rear ends

@Nickiquote AND

And today is the day the National Highway Traffic Safety Administratuion declared Tesla the "Deadliest Car Brand" for highest deaths

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2024/11/24/tesla-named-deadliest-car-brand-in-america/76335529007/

Tesla named 'The Deadliest Car Brand in America', NHTSA data shows

Will you be surprised? Here’s a hint: It’s an American automaker.

USA TODAY
@kevinrns @Nickiquote When NHTSA says your vehicle *Brand* is the deadliest, it is a very big deal.

@meltedcheese @kevinrns @Nickiquote not to mention #Tesla's #ProdictionQuality & #QualityControl is so bd, neither #IFA (#Trabant) nor #Zastava (#Yugo) would've dared to ship such shotty-made cars to customers!

(Tho even they did clearcoat stuff from the factory without additional charges!)

@kkarhan @meltedcheese @kevinrns @Nickiquote IFA/Sachsenring had many problems

bad qualitycontrol wasn't one of them

Trabant was just build decades longer than it would have in capitalist countries (otoh the original VW Käfer was build and sold even longer? so maybe not?) and "everyone" in the GDR got one.

So they were around for a loooooong time. They were easy to fix too. (simple tech does that)

If you look at it with 1990 eyes, the specs were horrible. But in 1965 it was a different story

@drazraeltod @meltedcheese @kevinrns @Nickiquote shure, they were on a low quality standard and nowadays people mock them but back then they at least made shure doorseams and stuff wasn't crooked!
@Nickiquote according to the NY times, “Elon Musk said that the vehicle was functioning properly.” I’m still not sure if that means it was _meant_ to explode? 🤔
@Nickiquote I wonder is it a reaction to the New Orleans incident, if it were a right extremist then the cyber outside the trump tower might be a reaction. Terrible to have casualties from such actions.
@Nickiquote I hope he goes broke very soon.
@Nickiquote There were literally fireworks in the trunk of a vehicle known for spontaneous combustion and law enforcement wants to speculate "terrorism."
We're never getting out.

@Nickiquote

Elon Musk doesn't make cars. Elon Musk does not make rockets or space vehicles.

Elon Musk is a parasitical member of a parasitical class.

@ecadre @Nickiquote He's a business bro. He has brilliant business ideas, like "cut costs."
@ecadre in the context of what @Nickiquote wrote: Everyone who's not a zealot knows Musk hasn't built a Tesla but it is clear he has made them less safe than they could/should/ought to be.
@ecadre @Nickiquote He is however most likely responsible for standards falling that low.

@Nickiquote

You couldn't fault the masses for believing Teslas are known to spontaneously combust!

@Nickiquote @kyonshi I will wait a bit before I take this at face value.
@Nickiquote Seems like a big expense to intentionally blow up a Cybertruck. Could've just got an old truck for a few thousand and blown that up.
@Nickiquote @TastyWheat 1. Rental 2. MAGA is turning hard against Musk and the others who want more visas for techno migros.
@TastyWheat @Nickiquote Self-driven to the target, and rented. It's a really big drone.
@Nickiquote think positive: could be both!
@Nickiquote your brain is washed by fake news.
@Nickiquote presumably the terrorist here is the CEO of the company that makes Cybertrucks, and his associates.
@Nickiquote "Let's do the Ford Pinto but make it really fucking expensive and make the fires impossible to put out."
