Benin's interior minister says a coup announced earlier has been foiled

Benin's interior minister says a coup attempt announced on Sunday has been foiled. He said a small group of soldiers launched a mutiny early Sunday, aiming to destabilize the state, but the Beninese Armed Forces remained loyal to the government. Earlier, soldiers appeared on state TV, claiming to dissolve the government and appointing Lt. Col. Pascal Tigri as president of a military committee. Gunshots were heard near the presidential residence, and the TV signal was cut off. President Patrice Talon, in power since 2016, is due to step down next April. This coup attempt follows recent military takeovers in West Africa.

It’s easy to roll our eyes at younger folks but we did all have to learn this once!
In particular, I remember a colleague seeing me reach for the ringing phone in our workshop (the business was small, so an incoming call rang all the phones) and having me rehearse what I was going to say (“Good afternoon, Morgan Automation, Mike speaking…” ) before I actually picked up the handset.
