@Drdind @estebanmoro so roughly 5% 🧐
this makes me wonder if #mastodon just crossed the threshold of being a mainstream but yet niche player for ethical users like #mozilla #firefox
See: the current firefox #marketshare : https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share
In other words, mastodon will not conquer the world, but will make a decent living in the margins of society

Also big list of journalists (some are not very active) here >>> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14vfonxtyy0JFDxu5dZOZo-yAJrRXcu2lZ33atkFb7GM/edit?usp=sharing
@browncarol Many journalists are on the instance journa.host.
Another thing you can do is to go to the journa.host instance local feed page:
https://journa.host/public/local
It will pop up a new window and you can scan the posts and follow people that you are interested in. It's a bit tricky because you will need to cut and paste any addresses from the journa.host window into your # search bar, look up the person and then follow them.
50 WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR TWITTER You just pin your last tweet, Pete, Request your archive, Clive, You don’t need a blue tick, Vic, Just get yourself free. Hop on the tusk, Gus, You don’t need to delete much, Except your DMs, Jen, And get yourself free. Use Debirdify, Di, Provide some alt tags, Mags, Add a content warning, Tim, To post sensitively. Would that work by putting the name of any server you would like to be reading in the first part? Thanks.

Found most of these folks so far. Not everyone. Even a Google doc. Great!
Thanks 🙏

You forgot the best, most accurate political analysts today: @MeidasTouch
If you aren't following them, you're only getting half the story.
@Lee_in_Iowa @browncarol @foobarsoft @estebanmoro click on the hashtag and then you click on the little person with a plus sign to follow :)
Histodons are history nerds on Mastodon.
@browncarol @foobarsoft @estebanmoro
I was here about 2 weeks before i finally figured out following hashtags hehe ... i'm old too :D but if you type in a hashtag like based on your interests let's say #news in the search bar... a little icon will come up over top of the center feed (if you're on a pc) with a little + sign... if you click the + then all content related to that will show up in your Home feed and voila pretty soon you won't be able to keep up lol

My sense is it's either going to slow gradually or, if Elon does finally smash things up completely, soar into the stratosphere. Maybe impossible for fedispace to handle.
Which is why I'm hoping it's a slow lingering death for the birdsite, not a catastrophe.
Well, that's always possible, too.
@estebanmoro It seems like the network effect increases the rate of growth after spikes.
I’d love see how Mastodon’s organic growth after spike events compares to Twitter’s organic growth in the early days after big event-driven spikes — what was it like before and after Oprah got on it and started talking it up, for example.
