@sam: Thanks for sharing that. It seems you're outside Europe and hence in a part of the world where #WTMG is not yet that known.
Wrt. visitor centers (less bars though) that often was an issue of opening hours for me, as they usually are already closed when I tend to arrive at my destination. Bars are more likely open then, but I'm probably not the person to look for crash space in bars. Connecting over a website seems beneficial then.
(BTW: AT = Appalachian Trail or Austria? 🙂)

Next question is from @xtaran:
Q2. I recently discovered the #slowtravel garden camping website https://welcometomygarden.org/ #WTMG which mostly works on a voluntary basis. It's though only densely filled with spots in Belgium (where it started) and neighbor countries/regions.
Do you know similar projects/sites/apps for sharing/finding (outdoor) sleeping space in other regions, focused on #bikepacking or similar, too?
What's your experience with them so far?
@inliuofjoan #BikeNite A5: I recently learned of the company https://www.slowby.travel/ who seem to take such things into account.
A potential downside of their service is that they seem to only provide individual #bicycletour roadmaps for #Belgium, i.e. if you live there or plan to visit it. Probably because they build on the https://welcometomygarden.org/ garden camping network for people do #slowtravel i.e. cycle or hike.
"Welcome To My Garden has been created for hikers and cyclists who need a camping spot on their trail at the end of the day."
It is a not-for-profit network of citizens offering free #camping spots in their #gardens to #slow #travellers. The web app is #Open #Source, licensed GPL 3.0
