Sofie dVDAY 5 (1/2) - Cycling south UK. After an early rise from my tent I cycled a little tour around Dartington Hall, which was very nice and quiet in the morning. I started early to cover the 20km, +540m before noon so I would have some time to visit Dartmouth. Near Dittisham I took an alternative route to avoid traffic, but after going downhill for a good 200m I found out this road was probably in disuse because a fallen tree was blocking the path. Some climbing and scrambling with panniers and my bike, and some bruises and bloody scratches later I arrived at Dartmouth. It's a small, colourful harbour city with some very steep small roads and nice to wander through. After a scone & tea at The Sloping Deck I visited Dartmouth museum and learned about the voyage of the Mayflower. In the late afternoon I took the ferry to Kingswear (2,5£) to cycle the last 8km, +200m to Brixham. I was planning to stay with a WelcomeToMyGarden (https://welcometomygarden.org/), but unfortunately my host never replied. Finding a campsite turned out more challenging than expected, as most only take campervans. Luckily Wall Park Touring and Centry Road Camping saved the day (or rather the night) and after a 0% Guinness, some snacks and dinner I went for a little walk along the South West Coast Trail. DAY 1 GR17 Libramont > Villance (Couchsurfing at #welcometomygarden host Eric's mom 😅). 28 km, +400m. The hike started off pretty boring since I had to make my way through the uninspiring city of Libramont, but it later turned into a nice, easy hike, making use of several other GR trails. Spent the night warm and toasty in front of a wood stove at Eric's mom's house 🔥😅 after getting some fries with Eric. September 2022.

Basically sleeping there in the evening in tents and in the evening a potluck.
I've never actually participated in welcome to my garden before but I know the creator of the other a bit... Honestly just seemed like a good excuse to go camping again (haven't used this in a while)
