And our last question of the week:
Q8. What did you see this week? Share a photo if you'd like. Cycling related or not is fine. Tell us about it!

In England it's rare you can't just get through (walking or riding). Where they actually maintain roads rather than patching I ask if I can walk through . If not possible
1.Check on Garmin whether an easy glance shows a bypass (pause navigation, ride). Or
2. Look at phone and maps for above. Or
3. Allow Garmin to reroute . Or
4. Ask a local

Yes, always. Via a Garmin mounted in front of handlebars. Yes most of it's available.
I mark some rides private as I often go off track whenever I can and don't want a permanent public record of not being on sanctioned paths. I always mark as private when visiting relatives or friends

I once fell asleep due to not eating/drinking enough on a roundabout in Milton Keynes! Police were good about it and insisted on coming with me to nearest supermarket.
My Dad (via cellphone) once had to map-read me home on a convoluted route when the River Riding burst its banks and I thought I was stuck. He knew the area backwards and was able to route me out on higher land
A8:
I saw some fun singletrack, bordered by scotch broom, from behind bars. Photo from this morning, 7:12AM.

Q7. If your cycle is wet or muddy, and your store it indoors, how do you prevent it from making your place a mess?
I am surprised how much dirt and leaves can come in just from wet tires.

A lot has been discussed about e-bike lithium ion battery safety due to potential fires.
Q6. Have you personally had a related issue with an e-bike battery, or do you know anyone who has?

@cainmark asks:
Q5. What do you do if a route you planned is suddenly closed for repairs and no detour is marked?

@Amgine asks:
Q4a. Do you gps track your rides?
Q4b. If so, do you use a dedicated device or your mobile phone?
Q4c. Is your ride data on the web?

#BikeNitePQ: I think this is a re-#cycle, but a multi-part question: * Do you gps track your rides? * If so, do you use a dedicated device or your mobile phone? * Is your ride data on the web? A thing I found out about years ago: #OSMAnd mobile app has a plugin for sharing your location. It requires configuring for your tracking service (I use a Nextcloud instance with a plugin to produce the secure API,) which was easy for me and fuss-free since. @nickzoic asks:
Q3. Have you ever *needed* rescuing while cycling? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04-07/cyclist-rescued-from-snowy-river-police-air-wing/106537314 (wasn't me)
