The street where I live is a #greenway with a strip of grass and trees as wide as one of the lanes on either side of it. People drive too fast on it all the time because there's less traffic but there are people walking dogs, and mothers pushing strollers.

My new favorite hobby is walking on the very edge of the greenway, inches from traffic so that drivers slow down in case I jump out in the road. If they still speed I act like I trip.

It's a blast!!!

The Esplanade-to-Northcliffe Terrace; Surfers Paradise, where this accident occurred, is one of the most unsafe strips of road for Cyclists, Scooters and Pedestrians around Surfers Paradise.

The number of new-misses I’ve seen and have personally experienced along there… . Even as an experienced Road cyclist, I could never feel comfortable riding along there.

It’s baffling how Gold Coast motorists tolerate badly designed stroads - designed for their convenience - despite the trauma it exposes them too.

And Tourists, please be mindful: the streets and roads in our ‘Tourism capitals’ are not tourist/pedestrian-friendly like what you’d experience at home.

The Dumbest Excuse for Bad Cities

Americans LOVE #walkable cities, look at any theme park, lifestyle center, or outdoor mall!

But we won't build that way where we live. Our politicians feed us car culture and we lap it up like fools.
