»When the Nazis came for the communists, I kept quiet; I wasn't a communist.
When they came for the trade unionists, I kept quiet; I wasn't a trade unionist.
When they locked up the social democrats, I kept quiet; I wasn't a social democrat.
When they locked up the Jews, I kept quiet; I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me, there was no one left to protest.«
Martin Niemöller (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_They_Came)
I’d like to add some modern lines:
When again the #reactionary #bourgeois #registered #queer and #mentallychallenged humans, I kept quiet, I was not (yet) affected nor framed as such.
When again the reactionary bourgeois locked up climate #activists, arabs, #muslims, latinos, human rights activists, open #anticapitalists, destroyed any social transfer systems, welcomed the fascists as friends, and lured us into »just« wars, I kept quiet.
When again #autocracy and #fascism had become normal and usual I learned that all the above had been my brothers, sisters, and every gender in between and apart.
