Subtitles were invented to allow deaf people to understand television, but now it seems like retards everywhere think they're a stylistic feature, and that I'M the one being rude when by acting like #Subtitling isn't for people who cannot rely on their hearing THEY'RE being ableist.

Les gens, je suis tombé sur cette perle : https://github.com/smacke/ffsubsync Un outil pour synchroniser un fichier de sous-titres sur une vidéo, automatiquement. Je suis super impressionné ça marche juste hyper bien, y compris sur des vidéos avec pas le même fps que les sous-titres. Pas contre c'est pas encore très user-friendly pour le moment (installation un poil compliquée pour les non-dev et interface en ligne de commande).

Also the Malay subtitles were INCREDIBLE. it just sucks that we still don't really preserve them in any home releases (I believe Netflix/otherwise Malay translations are handled by their own contracts. I'd check with this one down the line if not for the fact I'd have to pay for d+). The 80s/90s era of horrible subs because the contracts used to come out of Hong Kong is definitively over.
