After submitting a research paper to a journal of scientific publisher #SpringerNature, my e-mail inbox is flooded with science #SPAM (”Dear researcher $FullName, please consider publishing your latest research at $FakeyFakeJournalXY…”).

I wonder if there is a connection. 🤔

Here we go again … Submission guidelines of a journal published by the best-known scientific publisher, #SpringerNature. All of the following information are from the same document:

„Text must be double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman“

AND

„Use a normal, plain font (e.g., 10-point Times Roman) for text.“

AND

„Submit in common word processing formats such as .docx or LaTeX“

AND

„Manuscripts should be submitted in Word.“

Sigh … Now, what is it: 12-point or 10-point, Word or LaTeX?

In Sulawesi the oldest dated rock art with an age of 67.800 years has recently been discovered.

Not only is it interesting in itself, but the openly accessible article is being accompanied by a big set of data published on zenodo.

Switzerland has been without an agreement since 1.1.2026. Consequently, the SNSF is pausing funding for #OpenAccess articles in these journals.

This joint measure with the 🇨🇭 higher education institutions strengthens our negotiating position.

No Deal mit #SpringerNature:

Seit 1.1.2026 ist die Schweiz vertragslos. Als Konsequenz setzt der SNF die Förderung von Open-Access-Artikeln in diesen Zeitschriften aus.

Die Massnahme erfolgt abgestimmt mit den 🇨🇭 Hochschulen und stärkt die Verhandlungsposition.
