I mentioned it today in my German Phantastik Prompts answer

Not Tetris is a version of the original Tetris and Tetris 2 that flips the game by introducing more realistic physics into the game.

You can find it here on the side Stab Yourself Net (not a very nice name) it's free and they have some other interesting game concepts.

https://stabyourself.net/nottetris2/

Disclaimer I'm not affiliated with stab yourself or any one from their site or projects nor do I know anyone personally.
The reason I post it here is because their games gave me some nice down time and some funny moments.

If triple A, double A and other games are to much of a hassle for you and your looking for something outside big companies that runs on older PC systems I would say give it a look.

I don't know how actively the site is maintained but I still could download Not Tetris.

@vantablack I guess I should put it to the test and make it run on #Linux so it'll pop up on #ProtonDB...

Since you obviously didn't put any malware-style "DRM" in it nor used some obscure DirectX 7 stuff it should just work...

For day 6 of #AdventPromo I'd like to tell you I dabble in game design. Teeny-tiny games, so far.

My first ever game is a solo rpg/journalling game called "Singö - A weekend in the countryside". In it you return to your childhood summer home and... lounge about? Bake cookies? Meet a troll? Only the cards and your imagination will decide.

Check it out here: https://emmalindhagen.itch.io/singo-a-few-days-in-the-countryside

Playtesting & tweaking right now, it'll go live later this week ❄️

The Games I Want to Make by nbmach1ne

A little manifesto with some random thoughts about what making games is to me

itch.io

Just finished reading an article about making small games that really resonated with me. I like the idea that not each game has to be huge and strive to be a big viral success. Just making a piece of art that is self contained, fulfilling and doesn't overstay its welcome can be enough.
I think that's one of the reasons why I enjoy game jams so much, paired with the shared excitement and seeing other people's takes on a theme.

Give it a read:

How To Make Good Small Games

Polly the Frog by ...

@mcc I love Stuffed Wombat's games! His dedication to making #SmallGames is inspiring and I'm blown away by how great these games turn out to be. Gutwhale, ORD, qomp, Always Down, etc. http://stuffedwomb.at/games

Here's his "Small Games Manifesto" http://stuffedwomb.at/the_small_game

And a great interview he did with @eggplantshow https://eggplant.show/57-small-games-with-stuffed-wombat

That interview was recorded before Producer 2021, so it's spoiler free.
