Can't get enough of this drawing.
Before I sign off for the night, I want to call attention to this anniversary of an important event in our queer history: The Up Stairs Lounge Massacre. Things to know:
* #OTD in 1973
* 32 lives claimed
* Deadliest fire in New Orleans history
* 20th century's worst anti-gay mass murder

Imagine over than half your dating pool dying.
Imagine newly formed friendships disappearing.
Imagine the government not giving a shit because, in their words, AIDS is "k¡II¡ng all the right people"
And you wonder why we're angry?

Five days after the start of Operation Desert Storm in 1991, ACT UP disrupted the CBS Evening News with chants of "Fight AIDS, Not Arabs, AIDS is News."
When asked by a reporter if disrupting a TV broadcast was "an immature and silly way to get your point across to the country" ACT UP replied, "we think spending hundreds of billions of dollars bombing people in another continent is a silly and immature way to get a point across."
Then ACT UP stormed Grand Central the next day, filling the terminal with protesters and banners saying "Money For AIDS, Not For War" and "One AIDS Death Every 8 Minutes."
