Petunia will be re-introduced in this part! Her design is almost the same as from before, but with earrings added. She looks to be on stage, about to introduce something or someone…

I also updated my project wiki with the color boxes for several characters’ hair and eye colors since I forgot to add them earlier. Tedious but I’m glad to get that done. I’ll need to revisit even more of the articles later with redesigns 😅

The articles for the other two characters re-introduced from Part 1 are almost ready and I might publish them today or tomorrow.

Operating Superstars #Wiki re-introductions: Stephanie and Diana

These articles are mostly finalized but I might tweak some details such as their roles within their teams through more story appearances. 🤔

The first two members of Chariots of Colors; Stephanie (Apple I) is the founder, and she was already part of the Early OS Hobbyist Movements before she had the opportunity to become an OS. She founded CC to be an art collective and offer the opportunity for others that she was given.

Diana was a Developer for On-Target Mountaineer Court, but may have gotten bored only working behind the scenes, and got drawn to the ideals of CC.

Their articles have info about their appearance in “If at First You Don’t Succeed…”. I haven’t finalized exactly how the two met; those details may be finalized later, or could remain as something left to interpretation.

I’m not fully decided if Diana will also represent the Apple III, but I wrote some notes about how that could be portrayed in her article.

I was also thinking over whether to add trivia notes about their characterizations from the previous version, and the differences with their current versions.

“If at First You Don’t Succeed…” #Comic part 1

This part re-introduces four characters from the previous version with their redesigns, including the characters that have been in my profile pic and banner for a long time now 😅

Ready Fleet takes skills in sailing and handling the sea very seriously, which is a reason that Stephanie and Diana got rejected from their audition.

While I wrote this part, I thought that Stephanie would usually be pretty down-to-earth but the idea that she was also rejected for frivolous demands would be a funny contrast with how she usually is.

I also started the #Wiki article for this comic which has more details, and wrote more commentary about the redesigns on the home page:

I haven’t sketched all of the panels yet for this comic, but the script for it is finished. Parts 2 and 3 are also past the sketch stages. I'm estimating there'll be 6 parts total.

Last year I felt burnt out from making comics entirely, and I wasn’t sure if I could even return to making simple ones. However, a silly idea came to me for some Operating Superstars characters that were rejected from the first team they auditioned for before joining another.

Since the OSes within a team don’t have to be related (and usually aren’t) in this setting, this is a possibility that I explored. A short comic felt like the best way for me to convey this idea and as a way to re-introduce some characters. It was compelling enough for me to try again.

Behold, a #WIP preview of a short comic: “If at First You Don’t Succeed…”

Katsumi makes his first story appearance in the new version. It also shows his re-design following the announcement I made of planning to redesign several characters. Some of the next characters will have more extensive changes.

I introduced him as being the first host of an educational show that his original team ran. He keeps this role. Some of the characters that’ll appear in this comic will be re-introduced from the previous version.

Hello #Fediverse, today’s OS-tan is Windows 97-tan, a lesser-known OS-tan representing Windows 97 which does not exist as an actual OS (or it was as the first test version for 98, Windows Memphis Developer Release). Often called Nana-chan, she’s depicted as a cheerful little girl with brown hair styled in buns with braids.

There is a gag in the era of Windows 7 of her covering up the Kanji on her forehead except for the '7', trying to pass herself off as Windows 7-tan in hopes of rising from obscurity and gaining more recognition.

Although she represents a version of Windows that never officially released, Windows 97-tan has her own storage facility on older OS-tan image vaults.

Her first appearance remains unknown, but she has been suggested as the personified version of Windows 7 in certain translations
