I practiced with negative painting again. I struggled with values and color with this one. Remember, don’t add too much purple to yellow or it turns brown!

There are not nearly as many of these swallowtails as a couple of years ago. I know, their numbers fluctuate, but anyway, I'm always glad when I can have a couple of shots. Each landing on a flower gives about 2 or 3 seconds to focus and click and then the insect moves to the next. Which could be near or far.
