REBLOG: ‘Good Luck!’ by Karima Hoisan

Poem

Good Luck! I see good luck in the strangest places It’s been a solid thread in my weave. I’ve learned to expect it anywhere, anytime and nothing is too hard to believe…. sometimes in crystals sometimes in the leaves of the palm to have suitors at 80 and people still coming around…. Good luck is the pen name of Grace When Grace is shy she signs “Good Luck” When Grace is feeling playful she calls it your lucky day but it’s really Grace… coming your way. Grace is so completely undeserved… Nothing you do or don’t, will bring her or keep her away. When she feels like it, she leaves you a gift That’s how she works and Voilá… It’s your lucky day!

REBLOG: ‘Genesis’ by David Joseph

Poem

Above unknown divine expanse, A dance. The stars that slowly sway on high, Then die. He calls them back to darker times, His crimes. A just God weeps beneath his throne, Alone. His tears give birth to brighter stars, New scars. The cyclic whirl of time shall spin, Within. Are we the fruit of his mistakes? Heartaches.

REBLOG: ‘Mosaic’ by Violet Lentz

Poem

I am proud of both my strength and weakness, In every error that forged my will untamed— For it’s my flaws that created my uniqueness, I may be broken, yet I remain unashamed. I’ve chosen paths oft seen as unforgiving; I’ve felt regret, but never bowed to shame. For consequences come with wild living— If I did it, and I survived, I took the blame. When I look back, I don’t see broken pieces, but jewels I forged while running wild and free. I see a woman who has worn so many faces; I am her, and every one of them is me. I love them all—my every fractured part; As one, we rise—a breathing work of art.

REBLOG: ‘Instant love’ by Jane Aguiar

Poem

Instant love happened to a generous heart. Mind swept away and caught in the net. There was no point in living; morning and night were the same. Now she’s in his thoughts and at his workplace. She’s in his breath, and he’s not alone. But he has made friends with his loneliness and being alone. He’s her lover, her unquenchable thirst. She cannot live even a second without his presence and love. Daily review with inspection of whether he’s into speculation or gambling. But the heart starts beating and says, “He’ll give up the other addiction.” Caffeine and nicotine make coffee and tea bitter. But the love of life makes life better forever.

REBLOG: ‘Lessons in Patience’ by Sarah David

Poem

Patience is a virtue: the restraint in the chaos, the ticking of clocks heard from a great distance until the sound is only a memory, like the whisper of the wind enwrapping the yellow-tinged leaves and tossing them into the sunbaked sky. Patience is the calm before the storm; the soothing serenade of moonlight scattered on the bedroom walls; the simple act of shutting the screen, slipping into a quiet room, the rat race outside closed-off, leaving a moment enclosed in time, swaddled and held closely like an infant.

REBLOG: ‘Dreaming of Words’ by Ken Hume

Poem

Sitting here dreaming of words
Unspoken. Invisible. Elusive.
Yet to be imagined or written down.
My desire for them now intrusive
Been a while since that occurred.

Reminiscing about how they used to flow
So steadily. Freely. At will.
How they once made me feel
When I sat down long enough to be still.
Where did all that water go?

Searching for them now; chasing after them
Hard. Hungry. Determined to prove.
Willing each new word into existence
While the finish line comes into view.
Words start to come. I find a new rhythm.

REBLOG: ‘Instructions on Not Giving Up’ by Nolcha Fox

Poem

The trees refuse to give up green,
to give up rustle of rebellious leaves.
Autumn freeze cannot convince
the trees to drop their foliage
and shiver naked in the coming snow.
They won’t surrender to the loss and grief.

I won’t let go. I won’t let go.

The moths won’t give up making sweater holes.
I can’t replace old sweaters that I love,
although the winter chills me through and through.
I can’t give up the comfort of the known,
although comfort causes agony.
I can’t give up the love I had for you.
I can’t forget you walking out the door.
I won’t surrender to the loss and grief.

I won’t let go. I won’t let go.

Old winter will not end, it won’t give up.
It will not let the spring melt all the snow.
But even winter can’t withstand the sun.
And flower buds break through the frost to bloom.
My frozen heart defrosts and beats again
As I surrender to the loss and grief.

I must let go. I must let go.
