After presenting #antibiotic research in Pittsburgh, I took another train to #Philadelphia to present it at #UPenn for the #Nudges in #Health Care Symposium. Great #city for #biking and #jogging! Kudos to #Amtrak for allowing me to bring my #bike aboard so I can #cycle to-and-from stations, venue, etc. — that's become my favorite ways to #travel.

The need for healthy #diets from sustainable food systems links to challenges like #climatechange, #biodiversity loss & #obesity. Governance for sustainable #foodsystems is centred on the idea of #nudges. Yet, as product #price is often the primary driver for consumers… (1/2) doi.org/10.1016/j.je...

🧠🏔️ I’m sharing presentations from the Society for Judgment and Decision Making conference in #Denver at the URL below:

My poster is about #argumentMapping and #learningScience. You will also find presentations about how to advance #cogSci with #AI tools, do #ProcessTracing in #Qualtrics without #coding, and avoid backfiring in #healthcare #nudges.

Follow to fight FOMO and enjoy #openAccess conferencing.

Some #medical #nudges that didn't work:

Most (of a dozen) clinician-facing #ElectronicHealthRecord deprescribing tools didn't work? https://doi.org/10.1111/jgs.19609

How can #BehSci combat #antimicrobialResistance?

Many patients expect needless #antibiotics (https://doi.org/10.3201/eid2012.140331), which #nudges clinicians to prescribe 'em (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28206788).

So we validated nudges to improve patient expectations (N ≅ 1k): https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/d2pc4_v1

How I hacked my clock to control my focus

I often get distracted. I obviously don’t like it. So I decided to turn my computer’s clock into a constant reminder to help me focus. Implementation This hack requires: Ubuntu with GNOME desktop environment The Panel Date Format extension A simple bash script 1. Install the Panel Date Format extension # If you don't have the GNOME Shell extensions manager sudo apt install gnome-shell-extensions Install Panel Date Format from the GNOME Extensions website.

Read. Hack. Learn. Repeat.
(2/x) #Nudges (subtly steering #behavior to desirable actions while maintaining freedom of choice, such as making plant-based food the default option) can increase uptake of #plant-based food. Messaging appeals to more reflective thinking but can also influence food choices: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.appet.2025.107886
