Strange Days is one of the better looking laserdiscs I own...and definitely the best sounding. The DTS 5.1 mix is perfect.

A lot of chroma noise in the picture, but great contrast, colours, and not a hint of aliasing which is rare for a 2.39:1 letterboxed #laserdisc

After finally getting around to reading Neuromancer recently (ok story but wasn't a fan of the writing style) I've been revisiting some classic adjacent films.

Watched the Japanese cut of Johnny Mnemonic last weekend (awful but enjoyable film, written by William Gibson).

This weekend I'm watching something good...

Strange Days on #laserdisc in DTS 5.1.

Not actually related to Neuromancer or Gibson in any way but definitely shares a lot of the same DNA.

And here's the video for the epic track "Discovision" by the legendary Anders Enger Jensen!

I follow a YouTube Channel called Reely Interesting who post all sorts of analogue video oddities.

This morning I spotted that they'd posted an MCA Discovision #laserdisc player operation guide video so I bookmarked it for my lunchbreak.

Once I started watching it took me a few minutes to work out where I knew this video from...

It's the origin of the samples used in Anders Enger Jensen's epic tune "Discovision!"

Here's the video. As I mentioned earlier, this time I'll show you how I added audio to the LaserDisc RF signal.

...you plunge and scrub!

I've done it! With the help of an old TV Guardian, all VHS and LaserDisc movies I stream to Fedi friends will have closed captions!!!

For anyone who maybe finds this and wants to try something similar, I highly recommend tracking down one of these as they use composite cables (which removes a lot of the hard work of converting things to make stuff function).
