Now that we have the #GNUradio transceiver working we will work on enhancing it next.

The first enhancement is adding some indicators for audio levels, clipping peaking etc.

Next is things like ALC and AGC, (TX, RX, respectively).

I've already found some interesting topics that talk about the differences between traditional audio compression for SSB and envelope clipping.

Found this: Cryptographically keyed Gaussian spread-spectrum OOT module for GNU Radio. Has test suite, NIST CAVP , and a Zenodo preprint. Curious if the claims holds up under serious analysis. #opensource #fediverse #gnuradio #cryptography #hamradio #sigint #ccc #chaos

The Selmer Center in Secure Communications ,at The University in Bergen apparently knows about this but they are unsure if they have time to do a review.

I've been messing about with GNU Radio and an old RTL2832/R820T2 SDR. I think I've gotten the hang of it and it's kind of fun.

One thing I'm still looking for is a decent waterfall sink. The "QT GUI Waterfall Sink" is nice but it's not a waterfall. It flows up. Search turns up folks annoyed with this but no resolution.

Anyone have a link to better waterfall code?

40 hours give or take, but I finally have #gnuradio talking directly to my ft857d using #soapyaudio and #hamlib - RX only at the moment, but I'm going to be working on TX.

After calming down from all the excitement, I'll document the parameters and commit a proof of concept.

The silly GNURadio HF transceiver flowchart is done. It uses no custom blocks or embedded Python.

It is quite fragile but it really works. You can try it out yourself here:

Attached is an image of the GUI and the flowchart.

okay Mastodon is clearly not the place where #gnuradio people hang out.

Any direction to a pool of knowledgable people?

I'm writting a detailed blog post on using high sampling rates to transmit narrowband signals far away from the #LO. In these conditions filtering, aliasing and under runs are important subjects.

The benefit of modulating away from your LO is that you can reach further down or up from you LO limits.

In the case of the LimeSDR this allows to reach down to 0Hz.

The blog post will use #GNURadio to illustrate these effects.

Here's the video. As I mentioned earlier, this time I'll show you how I added audio to the LaserDisc RF signal.

Should have searched first. Here are a few findings:

Now off to buy a few “properly licensed” modules to help Scott’s stock return. :-)
