JORGEN INGMANN
Apache
1961 Canada pressing

Jorgen Ingmann was Danish.
Yup.
Danish.
A Dane.
Quite the Dane he was.
NOT INDIAN.
Like… at all.

O.K.
Now that we got the awkward album cover discussion out of the way, I do love this record.

Ingmann was a cool guitar player.
Starting with playing #jazz in the 40s, he also developed his own recording equipment which made it possible to record his bat-shit crazy guitar sound.

He also was the head of the Danish (no thanks I had a donut with breakfast) branch of the Metronome label.

Musically, though, he’s most remembered for his cover of “Apache” (originally recorded by The Shadows), & to a lesser extent, a song called “Dansevise”, a song which won he & his wife Grethe the 1963 Eurovision contest.

He had many more hits in Germany, but let’s not spend any more time on the Germans.
They know what they did.

Overall, a really fun record.
