#Kile on Manjaro seems to be broken. Even though I can run latex on my system and it gives me a prompt, it doesn't pass Kile's system check.

Wer arbeitet hier auch regelmäßig mit #LaTeX ?

Does anybody work regularly with LaTeX?

In my opinion it should be used more in #school or #university. It is so much powerful for writing reports or something like that.

Jeder Editor sollte sich in den Schreibmaschinen- oder Typewriter-Modus umschalten lassen

Kein Löschen von getippen Buchstaben, durchstreichen möglich, kein Cut&Paste

Das würde die Textqualität enorm verbessern !

Normally I don't like IDE-like environments and would prefer to do everything in Vim (never usually bother with plugins/LSPs even in there), but #KDE #Kile is really nice. The live preview is especially useful when trying to fiddle with getting document formatting set up, but even when I'm just writing and don't necessarily need a preview, I still like to stick with Kile

My recommendation is to start with #LyX

https://www.lyx.org/

Once you get an understanding for #LaTeX and depending on the OS it is good to have a decent LaTeX editor like #Kile or #TeXStudio (here is a list: https://www.guru99.com/best-latex-editors-window-mac.html)

Apart from that, have a look at #markdown. This might give you faster results at the beginning.

Ich finde ja #TeX immer noch genauso #PITA wie vor 30 Jahren im Studium.

#Asciidoc, #Markdown, #Docbook sind aber kein Deut besser, wenn es ans Eingemachte geht.

Immerhin sind die Tools heute besser seit damals. #TeXstudio mein aktueller Favorit - für ein 1700 Seiten Werk aus 100ten Dateien.

Live Preview gibt's aber immer noch nicht und compilieren dauert 1minute30...

(Nein, #Kile ist keine Alternative. Und kein FanBoySplaining! Oder du musst eine Woche in meinen Mokassins laufen)
