Das schwierigste (kleiner Stolperstein) war, dass zur zusätzlichen Anpassung der Schrift im Label der selbe Key "format" oder "font" genutzt werden muss, mit dem \mydescriptionlabel aufgerufen wird.
TeXexchange verwendet "format=". Die enumitem Doku nutzt "font=".
Das war etwas verwirrend, weil ich im ersten Moment natürlich nicht dran gedacht habe, dass format und font sich gegenseitig überschreiben.
Daher geht entweder
format=\ttfamily\mydescriptionlabel
oder
font=\ttfamily\mydescriptionlabel
aber nicht:
font=\ttfamily
format=\mydescriptionlabel
