We had the chance to test the performance of the new Intel Core Ultra 5 338H including the Arc B370 GPU with 10 Xe cores in some benchmarks. The results are very promising and the performance difference to the Arc B390 is small.

Kaby Lake #iGPU #Vergleich zwischen Windows 7 (links) und Windows 10 (rechts). #OpenGL 4.6 wurde am 31. Juli 2017 veröffentlicht und wird von #KabyLake unterstüzt. Unter #Windows7 7 bekommt man leider nur die Vorvorgängerversion 4.4 vom 22. Juli 2013. Yes, I know that the GPU resets are probably a bug and not a feature, but if I took it as a bug, I'd have to be irritated, and that'd raise my blood pressure, so I prefer to consider it an activity indicator.

Es geht um ein Lenovo ThinkPad T470, dass ich schon länger hab, bis ich merkte, dass Lenovo für das #T470 auch ein Windows 7 #Downgrade angeboten hat. Lenovos Treiber funktionieren einwandfrei. Nur der Grafiktreiber für die #KabyLake #iGPU ist eine Herausforderung. Mit einer dedizierten Grafikkarte von nVidia oder AMD wäre das natürlich ganz anders. Mit der Umleitung auf den Abschnitt [iSKLD_w7] läuft die Installation durch, der ist aber für Skylake gedacht und ist nicht identisch mit [iKBLD_w7]

Ah, ok...

Disabling the integrated Intel GPU in the BIOS allows Plasma to start in Wayland from sddm. I guess the Wayland session output was getting sent to the motherboard GPU.

There's probably a setting or something that can be tweaked to make it work with the iGPU turned on, select the correct GPU...

Anyone know?

Thinking this is a Plasma thing, not #FreeBSD at this point. Maybe related to "old" plasma (6.4) or old motherboard/cpu (Asus H170 Pro Gaming w/ i5-6400).

Not a big deal, don't foresee needing OBS w/ QuickSync or Jellyfin transcoding on this hardware set.

That's a wrap - ignoring computers till tomorrow. Ha.
