우리 같은 사람들이 Minisforum 위에 팬 쿨러 얹어두니까 전용 제품을 만들었나 싶다.

명확한 스펙 정보를 제공 안 하는 걸 보면 양자택일 극단적일 듯하다. 겉으로 들어난 스펙만 살펴도 랙 밖에 있을 컴포넌트가 아니어 보인다.

Conducted an experiment yesterday with my #Minisforum UM790 Pro PC.

During long-term heavy gaming #DDR5 #RAM temperature goes up to 82° C, which is probably no bueno, so I bought graphene/copper heatsink pads and have them a test.

Results actually were even worse - like 0,5-2 °C higher temps than without the pad. No magic can happen with airflow constraints being the case.

The solution? Just remove the magnetically attached lid 😊. Airflow improves and temps drop down by around 10-15° C ✅.

I upgraded my #Minisforum DEG1 to ASM2464PD #USB4 / #Thunderbolt #eGPU rig to the DEG2.

I didn't think the old setup was unstable per say, a few quirks here and there. But this thing is rock solid.

@jimsalter So, initial thoughts on the #Minisforum #NAS 5 Pro "AI":

• Build quality seems very good and solid. Screws aligned properly and fitt right
• Installation was relatively doable, obnoxiously, the hardest thing about it was the form they chose - their site has a doc which forces you to scan a QR code to get a shitty grainy stuttering "getting started" video. The actual user manual is much better. We should have ignored the quick start.
• I was able to do 99% of the process myself. In order to install RAM you have to unscrew and remove a CPU fan, and I couldn't ensure that my hulk smash patented ham hock fingers wouldn't destroy it in the process, but she successfully pulled the cable and got the tiny fan housing screws out for me.
• Installing your own OS is dirt simple: Keep tapping DELETE on boot to enter the BIOS, put USB first, insert USB stick with OS and away you go.
• I tried Debian Trixie but hit an epic fail - Trixie can't detect the SATA controller in the box for some reason, it tried and fails repeatedly

In the end analysis I caved and pushed the #TrueNAS easy button. I sincerely get that it does too much to be trusted in a commercial storage situation, and I think your assessment is spot on with that, but in a home/hobby environment I suspect it will suit my needs just fine.

It's a great little box thus far and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
