The best thing re: #art is "Just do whatever the fuck you want!"

  • Because not giving a shit is when many people (including myself) get their best results.
    • But that's easy to say when one doesn't need to curn out #comissions to make rent. (and being evidently too bad to even attempt that)...

I love #cooking but I treat it as art, not as a #profession or #craftsmanship, which is what every half-decent professional cook would do.

  • I can't draw - not artistically - at all.
    • I am not good at mechanical things.

But I am good at tech and electronics in the sense that I know how to "#ghettohack" a #datacenter out of discarded thin clients in an A/C'd room.

  • Certainly not great but will work sufficiently.
    • And that's less of an art then just being able to "make $THING go brrr"...

But what do I know...

  • I'm just busy keeping shit together and helping others stay afloat.

FujitsuSiemens Scenic/Esprimo E620 mit Core2Duo (LGA775) & DDR2-RAM, da ist allerdings nen seperates Fan-Shroud alla Dell Opliplex / Dimension Desktops dran wo die Luft durch den CPU-Kühler seitlich abgesaugt wurde.

  • Die Onboard-Grafik war bei denen leider mau und nur wegen dem Netzteil das auch absaugte ist mir die Quadro NVS285 nicht dem Hitzetod gestorben...

Grundsätzlich wäre viel mehr möglich wenn #Intel & #AMD engere Spezifikationen fassen... - Allerdings gab es das schonmal mit festgelegten Bauteilpositionen und jener Standard starb mit #Socket775 & dem Aussterben der off-die #Northbridge, weil #RAM plötzlich viel dichter an die CPU ranrücken musste... Somit ergibt sich das dilemma *"zu offener" Standards*... - Ich selbst bin daher ein Fan möglichst von #Servern & #Workstations zu kopieren und im Zweifelsfalle entsprechende *"Blower"*-Karten und *"Tower"*-Kühler zu verbaun und halt mit viel Airflow und vorallen statischen Druck zu arbeiten... Aber das kommt halt davon wenn Mensch #Surplus-Hardware wie Server-#GPU|s mit speziellen [Airflow-Ducts](https://www.ebay.de/itm/316841484405) und Notfalls zusätzliche Noctua IndustrialPPM 3000rpm 120mm auf [PCI-Slots](https://www.ebay.de/itm/177353648619), wobei ein gut abgestimmtes Setup dieser Art leise sein kann...

So yeah, if you just want to "#ghettohack" your own cockpit with some cheap Logitech K120's you can often get for < € 10 + shipping (I saw the MK120 set of a K120 + B90 mouse for < €20 with shipping ) then that + HASU adapter or the cheapest QMK/TMK supported board you can find will be the cheapest way to get setup...

@DeltaWye TBH, using a #VPN.is a cheap and old #Ghettohack that had it's right to exist before #CAcert, #LetsEncrypt and at a time where #EV-#SSL certs we 4-5 digits before taxes but there are reasons this isn't compliant to #PCIDSS anymore...

@marcan Well, I think that #RAM and #SSD|s should be user-replaceable and #batteries #ToolfreeSwappable.

And no, you'd be surprised how many people do that janky external drive setup - espechally those that can't afford a good machine and have to #Ghettohack together something that allows them to do some computing at all...

Whilst the RAM situation seems to be intentional design of their Apple Silicon and seemingly unfixable, that does certainly not apply to the SSD.

In.dem.Sinne erhöht das was @ubuntu #Ubuntu LTS bereits an #FLOSS mitliefert und was ausm Stand funktioniert bereits massiv die Produktivität...

Ich muss nicht irgendwelche #Ghettohack|s nutzen um beschissenen #Accountzwang zu umgehen oder erst langsam Zeugs nachinstallieren damit's benutzbar ist.

Und #Updates funktionieren einfach...
