If you haven't worked on Ruby or Rails projects for a long time, then you may forget what the current version of the language and framework is.
To keep up to date with current versions and support deadlines, I recommend checking out one of these sites periodically:

@louisgrasset At least I am self-aware that actually giving a shit about the #Envoirment and not wanting to waste € 2k on an unrepariable piece of #ManufactureEwaste that constantly spies on you and supports literal slave labour is a "nieche case" ...

Make of that what you will, but if people don't voice their demands then noone is gonna listen.

And yes, "nieches cases are valid" may it be the #ModelM keyboard or some actually #maintainable & #repairable #tech...

  • IDK if you just gave up and "consoom yourself happy" or not, but I guess I've to add this to my laundry list of #projects to do...

And yes, I'd rather #Ghettohack myself some "#JankTech" #Chonker phone instead of giving up!

An interesting show from @robbyrussell interviewing Obie Fernandez https://maintainable.fm/episodes/obie-fernandez-pioneering-ai-in-ruby-on-rails-development I really like the approach of identifying patterns for using AI. Already downloaded the free sample. 😁 https://leanpub.com/patterns-of-application-development-using-ai

Maintainable Software Podcast

@landley @dalias I mean, isn't the whole point of #Linux being written in #C to have #ReadableSource that is #maintainable?

@kenji Good idea, but wouldn't it be better to ban #CCSS and force everything to be #FLOSS and thus #maintainable and #serviceable even if the manufacturer goes out of business or doesn't give any f**ks?

Maybe do mandatory support lifecycle declarations that are legally binding for said producers of CCSS or otherwise directly commercially offered software, firmware and/or hardware!

Ready for my 2nd full-day #masterclass on writing #testable and #maintainable code this year and talk about the sweet spot in principles like #cleancode #testdrivendevelopment #unittesting #solid #designpatterns and #architecture.
2/2: I'm not arguing whether or not the decisions to reject are valid: instead, I'm brainstorming about coding strategies to enable these enhancements in a #maintainable without changing the core code.
