upd: so apparently there aren't really any screen readers for vim specifically, there are some attempts here and there e.g. https://github.com/equalsraf/vim-speechdispatch but it really seems we'll have to figure this out ourselves...

#flite it’s a grat package to read English books/transcriptions aloud. Really good to be used to spoken English. #openbsd has it on its pkg repos.

@alcinnz @devinprater, the #CMU #Flite speech synthesis system is also available as an #Android app in #FDroid.

It provides a demo page for the speech synthesis system and a #Talkback plugin. The last build has 13 English voices, plus 4 indic ones: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.

This list could be extended for the full dataset, but It needs some love, currently, there are no students on the project.

J'ai testé #Flite et #eSpeak sur #Fdroid, mais le premier semble ne pas avoir de langue française et le second fait planter les paramètres...

#openstreetmap Comment vous faites, vous, avec #osmand, pour avoir les annonces vocales, lorsque vous êtes sous une rom sans #google ? Et oui, parce que - sans #googlevoice, pas d'annonces vocales, car il n'y a aucune synthèse sous #lineageos, par exemple.

La 1ère solution est directement intégrée dans #osmand: sous #fdroid , on cherche #tts (text to speech)... on trouve pas grand chose (#flite, mis à jour il y a 4 ans et #espeak TTS mis à jour il y a 7 ans, qui est mieux, mais bugue...
