I've finally got around to making some improvements to my #DCJAM2024 entry.

This is a side by side of the jam version and my current version.

Currently working on remaking the first level and with it all of the various system changes and UI components.

The core remains: An old school gridder/blobber DRPG where the player must uncover the mysteries of Gloaminghold, an isolated monastery at the center of a radiating wave of evil plaguing the countryside.

I got a wild hair to play the Japanese version of The Bard's Tale on NES, which has some text and art that was cut from the NA release. Of course, I have to make a map too!

It's a nice evolution of Wizardry. Combat is slower than I'd like, but has some great options. I took one character of each class, and so far the thief and hunter are not pulling their weight.

A small feature I added this week: disabled (held, stunned, or asleep) combatants will show a red X over their icon in the timeline, which makes it easy to tell at a glance if an upcoming turn will be skipped.

Also, KOed allies now display as a broken gem at the end of the timeline; previously they were just removed from it. I'm not sure if this is strictly useful, but I think it makes sense.
