The CRTC banned activation, connection, and cancellation fees (policy 2026-43). Telus answered with a mandatory SIM card fee. Bell added a device handling fee. The CRTC's VP warned both.

A new name doesn't kill the incentive to bring the charge back. We just don't charge it: no activation fee, no hidden costs, what you see is what you pay.
