This is how I got into the home computer lab and self hosting hobbies. Yes, data centers are disasters. They're terrible for the environment as they deplete water sources and place additional strain on the already stressed power grid. Furthermore, they lead to deforrestation. Their diesel generators dump even more CO2 into the air.
