In the meantime, if anyone has any advice for gently but firmly setting #boundaries with people, I'm open to them! Ways to phrase things that are more polite but still assertive, would be helpful. Ways to not seem like I'm blaming the other person or suggesting that they're wrong for asking for things, even if they're things I'm not in a place to give would also be appreciated!

3. A long time friend and his partner walked into my house unexpectedly last night for a coffee and a chinwag. It was pleasant even though I put down a boundary about knocking/ringing the doorbell first. Usually I wouldn’t have done that but I’m proud of myself that I did.
