"glissory' is still on hiatus while I'm pantsing forward with new characters, new plot developments and whatnot. But I decided to post a character sheet with current and emerging (and very delightful) new characters. An update on this and new series plans in a few days. #scifi #amwriting #sciencefiction #ETs #paranormal #deepweird #phenomenon #extraterrestrials #interdimensional #series #amplotting #characterbuilding #characterdesign #characterbuilding #plottwist

I've got another paranormal why choose romance brewing

Charley Anne was taken by surprise when a stranger claimed that she was a witch and soulmate to eir coven. She reluctantly agreed to meet eir coven and discovered that ey was telling the truth. Just as she is getting comfortable with her coven mates, she meets her dreamlover and learns that she is soul-bound to their magical family, called a β€˜chord’. Bound to two different magical groups, from two different secret traditions, Charley Anne and her various loves must forge a future that can work for everyone.

@neve
How did the last two months go in terms of my word count or publishing goals?

Not so good. But I have a new laptop all set up (okay, nearly all set up) with thrice as much space as before (3 TB! yay!).

Bonus tech support: my friend Darrell also has a new computer all set up and didn't lose any time on ebay.

I'm listening to Yellowface by R.F. Kuang (I've read it before) and it's really motivating, oddly).

@Priyajsridhar
Have I written a summer story/written a character who needed remedial classes? How about summer school?

I haven't written someone who needed extra help.

There are folks who change course midstream and want to graduate on time like me (I worked summers I took classes--at Cornell Dining or at the CS dept).

Others need a boost because of outside life factors.

These are good tension-adding factors.

It's a small moment, but wonder if it'll resonate.
Planning to revisit this in the next story.

Tuesday, Chatterboxers! The day where we say...Tuesday!

Today's TO DO list has 45 items. Will they get done? Or will they languish miserably? Stay tuned to find out!

It felt SO GOOD to get my old project cleared off, and start with a clean slate on this plotting board. I'm trying out Katytastic's 9 Block/27 Ch structure for my next story!

It's been a good day for ideas.

If you're a writer, I'd expect one of the questions you're most often asked, from friends, family, or pretty much anyone you talk about your writing with, is "where do you get your ideas from?"

If you're anything like me, ideas are the easy part. I've been logging them for 20+ years. Most are not good enough to stand on their own, but could be combined to make a good story. Some can carry a story on their own. A few are strong enough to be the basis for an entire series.

When I finish my second fantasy trilogy, in about a month's time, I'll be returning to the protag from my first novel and taking him out for some new SF thriller adventures. I already have five stories worked up for him and his daughter. I've also outlined around a dozen horror tales, probably novella length. So at the speed I write, I have enough ideas to keep me going until I'm around 90.

What better day, then, to have 2 more great ideas for the SF guy pop into my head, each easily as good as any of the 5 I had planned. Looks like I'll now be writing 'til I'm 95 πŸ™„

I'm timelining the final book of my second trilogy #today and I needed to know how fast the dragons will fly to make sure everyone ends up in the right place at the right time.

Well! There's almost as many answers to that as there are stories with dragons in them, but the search result that really blew my mind was this one. Hats off to Anthony, whoever he is - this level of nerdiness is really impressive.

Anthony's GURPS - The Physics of Dragon Flight

Part 1: an introduction to the problem In looking at the problem of how dragons fly, it's worth starting with the simplest issue: why is it that no large flying animals exist? Large passenger or cargo planes can reach several hundred tons, whereas the heaviest bird we know of (Argentavis) was
