@HeyeBodo Late 80's: I got Hero Quest and Gm'ed for my friends then morphed into AD&D2. We all went to different universities, our group dissolved and I found a WFRPG group. I was hooked and we played through all versions (we sometimes tried other systems like DnD or DSA but always returned to WFRPG). 30yrs later I left this group for good this winter, cos my understanding of RealLife ™️ and theirs were no longer compatible. Luckily the #Valravn OpenTable saved my hobby life 😁

Late 80s: Older brother of a friend from school introduced us to #Midgard2E my brain: 🤯 Then started to play DSA as a 13-years-old, soon #Adnd2e came along, saving our souls. My English grades improved thanks to 2nd Ed bloat. Played a lot of #Gurps in the 90s. Fell out of the hobby for 8-10 years - always missing it. Re-entered the hobby through Gurps, Pathfinder, 5e. Discovered the #osr & Storygames ten years ago. My brain: 🤯 - never looking back. Found my home, ttrpg-wise

Finished the Knight of Solamnia who plays in our aDnD 2e Dragonlance Campaign. His Name is Edward Broadblade.

Quite happy with how he turned out, Especially the Armour looks good in my opinion.

The mini is printed with a resin printer based on an stl by tinyHeroes.

AD&D2e is the edition where D&D went from a darker pulp fantasy tone to a lighter high fantasy tone. 2e was also the late 80s post-Satanic Panic edition where everything was scrubbed to make it palatable to the parents of 12 year olds. So while 2e is the improved streamlined AD&D1e in terms of rules (before the bloat of the Player/DM Options books), it definitely lost something trying to redeem its reputation in the eyes of people who didn’t play the game. #ttrpgs #dnd #adnd2e #ttrpg #osrrpg

Did anyone else who played AD&D 2E in game treat infravision as heat vision whereby when it was used by the characters it would allow them to see at night and see like the Predator, but the ability had limitations such as that massive heat sources could temporarily blind them, difficulty seeing cold blooded creatures, etc? Or did you just treat it as "you can see in the dark?"

Just checking.

For me it‘s:
#Adnd2e partly due to nostalgia bc I was socialized into the hobby through Adnd2e and because it is still a good and very module game from my point of view, if (!) one ignores the bloat delivered by TSR’s splatbooks.

#DnDBX / #OSE or the Basic Line of the game: it just works and has put a charm on be. OSE + Advances Options provides me with everything I want from a trope-y Dragongame.

#Shadowdark Masterfully streamlined version giving me Adnd-vibes. #dnd6e of the hearts, truely.

"Tucker's Kobolds" from 1987 is about giving weak #dnd monsters (honestly) excessive tricks including traps. It's a meme now, picked up on YouTube.

Looking through editions, there are zero references to kobolds using traps before it. #odnd just says they are weaker than goblins, basically the crappest humanoid. #adnd1e has them just fighting. #bxdnd says they "ambush". All before 1987. But #adnd2e (1989) has heavy reference to traps for them. TSR eating their own memes.
