@joelanman Yep. That's one of the reasons why, after reviewing #Figma , we rejected it, and advised everyone to do the same. We want an #accessibleweb . Figma should be an #a11y . They are perfectly positioned to lead the way. And they choose differently.

Would it better to use <span lang="haw">Oʻahu</span> even though the results won't be read properly, at least for the foreseeable future, by screen readers?

Or is there another solution that would provide better accessibility support while also being syntactically correct?

I'm working on a javascript application with a developer. The client now displays text with a text box as it comes in from the terminal, but I'd like it to be spoken by screen reader once new text arrives. Is this possible with an aria live region or is there a better way? Thought of keeping the text box for review purposes and live regioning and hiding, using aria, for sr output.
