Manitoba's largest wildlife sanctuary, Wildlife Haven, took this young lynx in when she was just a baby whose mother had been killed in a dog attack. Lumi, as she came to be called, was healed by the vets there, but the injury to her eye was too serious for her to be released as an adult. She was destined to join the Winnipeg Zoo when she started having seizures. Between the Haven and Zoo vets, they nursed her through the seizures and she is now happily playing in her enclosure.
I'm posting her story and picture because (a) she's a good reminder of the importance of wildlife hospitals and sanctuaries; (b) we all need some cute pictures right now; and, (c) OMG TEH FEEEEEETS
Lynx have amazing paws that act as natural snowshoes. Lumi is seen here showing off her lovely big toes!
"Lynx could return to Scotland – but can rewilders win over wary Highlanders?"
NJ asked me recently why I take photos of partly done #drawings. This is why:
1. It's evidence when I think I've made "no progress".
2. It's evidence I drew it.
Also, man, real cat ears are complicated and I know that still need work.
