Picture this: I’m wandering through the bustling streets of a foreign city, lost in the whirlwind of sights and sounds that only travel can offer.

Travelling around the world

As I navigate the maze of cobblestone alleys and colourful market stalls, I find myself in the most unexpected of encounters – a random encounter with a stranger that would leave a lasting impression on me.

It all started with a chance meeting at a quaint café nestled in the heart of the city.

As I sipped on my espresso, lost in the pages of a gripping thriller from my book recommendations list, a stranger approached me with a warm smile and a twinkle in their eye.

Books To Read

Little did I know, this encounter would weave together elements of travel, beauty, and serendipity in the most delightful of ways.

We struck up a conversation that spanned topics ranging from our favourite movies to watch to our shared love of exploring new cultures through food.

As we exchanged recommendations for must-visit destinations and hidden gems off the beaten path, I couldn’t help but be drawn in by the stranger’s infectious enthusiasm for adventure and discovery.

But it wasn’t just our shared love of travel that bonded us – it was also our mutual appreciation for the finer things in life, like beautiful nails and makeup.

Beautiful Nails

As we swapped tips and tricks for achieving the perfect manicure or mastering the art of a flawless cat-eye, I couldn’t help but marvel at the unexpected connection we had forged over something as seemingly trivial as beauty.

Makeup

Our conversation took unexpected turns, delving into topics as diverse as women’s fashion, miniatures, and even the latest tech gadgets.

From discussing the latest trends in women’s shoes to geeking out over all things Xbox, it was a whirlwind of laughter, camaraderie, and shared passions that made me feel like I had known this stranger for a lifetime.

As the afternoon turned to evening and the café began to empty out, I realized that our chance encounter had turned into something truly magical.

It was a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful connections come from the most unexpected places – whether it’s halfway across the world or right in your own backyard.

As I bid farewell to my newfound friend and continued on my journey, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the serendipitous encounter that had brightened my day and left me with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

It was a testament to the power of travel, beauty, and human connection to bring people together in the most unexpected of ways.

So here’s to chance encounters, random strangers, and the beautiful moments that make life worth living.

Who knows what adventures await around the next corner – all we have to do is keep our hearts open and be ready to embrace the unexpected with open arms.

Cheers to serendipity, and may we all be lucky enough to experience the joy of a random encounter that leaves a positive and lasting impact on our lives.

"At the turn of the twentieth century, women’s ankles were covered with long skirts, silk stockings, and tight-fitting, feminine ankle boots. The majority of shoes were black, brown, or white. Part of the reason for the predominance of black and brown shoes was because people believed that darker colors made feet look smaller. Generally, leather was preferred for most footwear in the late 1890s and early 1900s. As the century progressed and women’s skirts became shorter, they began to wear showier shoes. Buttons and laces were commonly used as closures on shoes and boots in the early 1900s. The wide, curved Louis heel, which originated in the 1700s, re-emerged in the 1870s and remained the common dress-shoe heel until the mid-1920s. "The Gayest Feet in the Country wear NON-RATIONED Raffia-Arts" - ad for Kreeger's in the Times-Picayune, 28-December-1944. Rubber was regularly used in shoe heels and soles, which meant most shoes were rationed. Women's shoes often contained no rubber, so, more readily available.
Kreeger's was in the 801 block of Canal Street, just down from D. H. Holmes. The location is now a Walgreens.
