Mendung Masih Menggantung Di Losmen

Edisi: 09/18 / Tanggal : 1988-04-30 / Halaman : 99 / Rubrik : HB / Penulis :

Tarjo sibuk membuat skripsi. Pak dan Bu Broto, juga Mbak Pur, pergi ke Jakarta. Mereka digusur? Tidak. Menurut Tatiek Malyati, penulis naskah, tuntutan cerita memang disiapkan seperti itu seiak dahulu. Bukan karena sebab lain, misalnya, seperti…

The Weight

I think I actually needed this prompt today.

So yesterday started out as a beautiful and productive day. The last two days had found me doing spring cleaning. I went through alot of junk and sent it to the trash bin, rearranged the living room and bedroom and did a deep clean. My moden took a crap and needed replaced and Spectrum was quick to show up and replace it.I then repaired my stereo rack cabinet as I broke a castor on it while rolling it around. I had originally put straight castors on it so yesterday I changed them out for swivels. In so doing I had to take the stereo systems completely apart and rewire it as I put it back together.

Hearing a knock on the door I open it and find a package waiting for me. My new microphone arrived which had me stoked with anticipation and you guessed it, it was the next thing on my agenda. Plug it in to the reel to reel and poof! my barks sound loud and proud. This magical day was smooth sailing and I couldn’t wait to get into my DAW and play around.

And then it happened…I walked out to check the mail and one letter awaited. It was from Social Security.

I’ve never had a lot of luck dealing with the government and this letter was not the exception. They informed me they were taking half of next months check in back payments and further checks are being cut by $200 a month. Growl and bark? bet your sweet tooth that’s what I was doing. No way to get ahold of them before Monday so I had a hissy fit. Life felt like someone had flushed a toilet and it was swirling down the drain in ungodly speed.

I lost all hope in the future as the only income I have is my retirement and it is not top tier level by any means. After complaining to our father about this and making it clear I wasn’t blaming him but was upset I asked for his help. Around ten minutes later a calmness overtook me and I started looking into any info I could for this insane problem.

I found it online. I had been sent notifications to submit proof of income which I hadn’t seen. When on the state’s site they hide them under some drop down and don’t offer any way to direct you to them. Hopefully Monday I can get this all straightened out and only half to deal with the cut in next months payment. Thank you Lord for the guidance and compassion you always provide.

Now I’m off to refill the beautiful black bean breakfast cup and try to understand the use of midis and vst’s which is way harder than I thought it would be. As for the microphone…let’s just say my bark is much more worse than my bite. 😂😂😂

1. The Spicy Spectacle

You pride yourself on your tolerance for heat, so when the friendly street vendor in Bangkok offers you a taste of their “mild” curry, you confidently accept with a smile. But as the first fiery bite hits your tongue like a flamethrower in a chili factory, you quickly realize that you may have underestimated the true meaning of “Thai spicy.” Cue the frantic gulps of water and the impromptu fire-breathing performance that leaves your fellow diners both impressed and slightly concerned for your well-being.

2. The Mystery Meat Mishap

You’re feeling adventurous, so when the menu at that quaint little bistro in Paris lists “escargot” as the house specialty, you decide to throw caution to the wind and give it a try. But as you take your first tentative bite of the slimy delicacy, you can’t shake the sinking feeling that you may have just eaten something that was alive mere moments ago. Cue the existential crisis and the fervent vow to stick to more familiar fare for the remainder of your culinary adventures.

3. The Cultural Conundrum

You’re determined to immerse yourself in the local culture, so when your gracious host in Tokyo presents you with a steaming bowl of what can only be described as “mystery soup,” you graciously accept with a smile and a bow. But as you tentatively take a sip and try to identify the various unidentifiable floating objects, you realize that sometimes, cultural immersion comes with a side of gastrointestinal distress. Cue the polite nods and the silent prayers for a speedy recovery as you struggle to maintain your composure in the face of culinary adversity.

4. The Street Food Fiasco

You’ve heard rave reviews about the street food scene in Marrakech, so when you stumble upon a bustling market teeming with tantalizing smells and exotic flavors, you can’t resist the siren call of the street vendors. But as you dig into your first bite of falafel, you quickly realize that street food adventures come with their own set of risks – namely, the inevitable battle with food poisoning that leaves you regretting every culinary decision you’ve ever made.

5. The Sweet Surprise

Amidst the chaos and confusion of culinary mishaps abroad, sometimes you stumble upon a hidden gem that restores your faith in the power of international cuisine. Whether it’s a piping hot plate of pad thai in Bangkok or a decadent slice of tiramisu in Rome, these unexpected delights serve as a delicious reminder that sometimes, the best culinary adventures are the ones that catch you by surprise.

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind. I think humans have been learning not to do that 🥶. Yes, it’s important to jot down your thoughts, feelings, and ideas for self-improvement and psychological reasons. Still, I think it’s ridiculously careless to share them publicly without considering the consequences 😒. My only intention is to help people grow wiser and healthier and live a purposeful life 😇. I felt obligated to do this when I saw many people suffering from […]

Salah Duga

“Kamu sudah besar nak, sekarang ibu bertanya padamu.. apakah kamu sudah punya pacar?” Suatu hari ibuku bertanya tentang sesuatu yang tak pernah aku duga sama sekali. Aku hanya menggeleng “belum bu, gustavo tak punya pacar.. jangankan pacar.. berdekatan dengan wanita saja jantungku berdegup keras, keringat dingin keluar seperti uap air yang mendidih.. dan badanku seperti terkena parkinson.. kejang tak beraturan dari kepala sampai ujung kaki” sambil tersenyum ibu berkata pelan “kamu aku jodohkan dengan cemplon anak pak gundala mau? Dia teman karibku.. anaknya baik”

“kenapa mata kamu melotot.. apa kamu kena serangan jantung?” Tanya kenthir mengagetkanku.

Kebun Raya Nagai, Higashisumiyoshi Osaka. Japan
