This precolumbian local delicacy is an acquired taste, but I acquired it last Autumn; these fresh young shoots did not disappoint!

There isn't much of it yet, but it is delicious raw.
You can eat this, but it does have a weird texture and is usually described as "survival food", i.e., you would eat it to survive, but only if you didn't have anything else.
It's not bad at all pan fried on the side of my pine tip pilaf, but that is a bit of propane.
It's recommended for soups and stews, so I'll update tomorrow--putting a bit in my anasazi beans.
I'm also running out of kale tomorrow so any sort of greens are going to be yum yum; maybe it's an acquired taste like the bitter greens I was eating in Flagstaff last year because no money.
I'm going to be one hell of a healthy old fart if I keep on eating all these medicinals, lol. 😂

Baby Ponderosa Pine with her elders in the background; this year she might be able to spare me enough needles for a cup of tea.
I remembered reading a book about how they collected pine needles in Siberia because they are very rich in vitamin C.
This beverage became a very important part of my diet last year.
