I experimented with Claude and Home Assistant to update my dashboard with network monitoring cards for my Unifi router and access points.

DSL (FTTC) -> ISP Router (Vodafone) -> USG -> LAN

Fibre networking options:
ONT -> Fritz!Box -> USG -> LAN
or
ONT -> Fritz!Box -> LAN
or
Some other setup?

Where the LAN has one subnet, runs on Netgear switches and a Unifi AP-Lite. Having played a little with Fritz!Box it’s quite possible I could get rid of the Unifi bits altogether as its WiFi seems good enough.

Neighbor was kind enough to share her WiFi while we wait for the technician in two weeks to activate our DSL line.

Of course I immediately turned an unused Raspberry Pi into a WiFi-to-Ethernet bridge and hooked it to my UniFi gateway's WAN port. Now my entire network is back online, not just individual clients.

Can someone tell me why a simple 5 port switch is in the top 5 of devices which communicates to home called Unifi?

Blocked it... no clue why, except for updates but not in this frequency.

Pi-hole makes you even more concerned about privacy. It's eye-opening to see how frequently my network makes calls to servers.
