Cameras on OnePlus 6T โworkโ very basically in #pmOS, but terribly. The exact same hardware works extremely well in #UbuntuTouch. I'm supportive of #pmOS and #Mobian but they really don't work as well as #UbuntuTouch on OP6T. I patiently await improvement before I'll be ready to switch fully.
Since Iโve had a degoogled phone, Iโve been happy to share my experiences with those who are also looking for a solution. Iโve summarized my experience in this post.
Youโll find out what options I considered and tried, as well as what inconveniences are worth keeping in mind. I also provide an example of how to collect whatโs important for you when choosing a device for degoogling.

Well I would *prefer* to have a #pmOS phone that *works* (especially the cameras), but until that day arrives I'm very happy with second-hand OnePluses running #UbuntuTouch on Halium, and running very well thanks. It would be nice not to be dependent on the Halium layer, Android drivers etc. But having LineageOS running in a Waydroid container on #UbuntuTouch is also very nice, as it opens up the #fdroid app space and apks too. Linux-only purism isn't very helpful.
๐ฉบ By the way, if you were thinking about getting a OnePlus Nord N100 to run Ubuntu Touch be mindful that itโs not the easiest installation process; Youโll have to run a proprietary EDL flashing tool on Windows to install the specific firmware version that Ubuntu Touch needs, which is me making it sound far more seamless and problem free than it actually was; this was an all-afternoon project for me.
