Rhino Linux 2026.1 has been released with one of its biggest changes yet: Lomiri desktop images for generic x86_64 and ARM64 systems.

The Ubuntu-based rolling release distribution also ships:
• Linux kernel 7.0.9
• Pacstall 6.4.x improvements
• Continued collaboration with UBports
• Rolling updates without reinstalling

Oh nice! Somebody made a Discord client for Ubuntu Touch! That's really neat since at present the only way to use Discord on Ubunu Touch is the Android app thorugh Waydroid.

Just be careful though, people using third party apps have been mistaken for bots and had their accounts restricted.

I got USB-C Display out working reliably with some patches. It also needs a userspace program that triggers the vendor USB HAL to actually register for USB-C events, which usually happens automatically on Android. I also believe this is the first time a Pixel 9a outputs something else than 1080p: I found the vendor property that configures the preferred resolution, which is otherwise hardcoded to 1920x1080 #ubuntutouch #ubports #pixel9a #mobilelinux

Just discovered Ubuntu Ports has an Ubuntu Touch flash compatible with my former daily driver.

This might be worth exploring, despite not being a functional phone in my country. i.e., all phones must be compatible with VoLTE 4g (minimum requirements for phone calls). I might be able to set it up as a server.

100% degoogleifying might be possible with Ubuntu Touch in alternate mainstream phones, where Postmarket is currently lacking development.

By the way, if you were thinking about getting a OnePlus Nord N100 to run Ubuntu Touch be mindful that it’s not the easiest installation process; You’ll have to run a proprietary EDL flashing tool on Windows to install the specific firmware version that Ubuntu Touch needs, which is me making it sound far more seamless and problem free than it actually was; this was an all-afternoon project for me.
