Comparing grocery walksheds. Green area is within 15 minute walk from grocery with pedestrian facilities. Red area is with a 15 minute walk, but there are gaps in the ped network. ~90 houses on the left outside either boundary would be with a 15 minute walk if a planned connection was made.
About 400 buildings are within 15 min of the Kroger by Kinser & the Bypass vs ~2,500 buildings within 15 min of the Krogers on College Ave
In the demo here, AI is used to “Select all roads within 500 feet of a school”. 🤯

#introduction for urbanists.social after moving from mastodon.online.
I use spatial analysis & #mapping to address transportation and housing equity. Recent work:
* #Opensource software to calculate walk potential and other metrics to prioritize sidewalk funding locations.
* Auditing my city's sidewalk funding to against equity metrics
* Visualizing how neighborhood associations use boundaries and bylaws to systematically exclude multi-family housing.
I've published software used to create a heatmap of locations to prioritize for sidewalk funding.
