US infant mortality reached all-time low in 2025, CDC reports

The nation’s infant mortality dropped to a new all-time low in 2025. The U.S. national infant mortality rate dropped to below 5.4 infant deaths per 1,000 live births in 2025. That’s considered a statistically significant decline from about 5.5 in 2024 and 5.6 per 1,000 live births in the two preceding years. The decline translated to hundreds of fewer infant deaths per year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted the 2025 data in late May, and on Tuesday issued an in-depth analysis of earlier years. While the U.S. rate has decreased over the decades, it has remained higher than other high-income countries.

Tattoo ink does not remain in the skin.

It migrates into lymph nodes, where it can trigger chronic inflammation, confuse diagnostic imaging, and release harmful compounds when exposed to sunlight or laser removal.

For people recovering from cancer, this immune stress can complicate healing and increase vulnerability to infections.

A new ctDNA‑guided colorectal cancer trial is focusing on patients who finish treatment with no visible disease yet still carry molecular traces of cancer in their bloodstream.

This early‑intervention strategy uses TTX‑MC138, a therapy designed to block a microRNA linked to tumor invasion and recurrence.
