Word choice matters when localizing a #teleplay or #screenplay. Localization of such a creative work should preserve and convey the experience and nature of the #story, #plot, and characters.

Yes, I notice when captions are more interpretations than verbatim translations for languages I understand. With captioning on such productions, there are occasions to learn helpful English words I might not otherwise encounter — words like “scree” and “transhumance”.

Well I haven't read the book that it's based on, nor have I seen any criticism of either the book or the teleplay, but it was a well-meaning attempt to absolutely not show the full relationship between the church and indigenous communities. It's one story. And as stories go, it's not the worst. The priest only dies after making friends with the tribe he's sent to minister to. #teleplay

Now I'm starting 4:44 Last Day on Earth (2011), an Abel Ferrara film notably starring Willem Dafoe and Natasha Lyonne. So it seems darkness is expectable here.
