The Immigrant Defense Network is letting everyone know that we are seeing an increase in federal activity across Minnesota.

The feds have a press conference scheduled for tomorrow regarding "fraud" investigations.

Please #BeCarefulOurThere but also report any sightings to your local groups.

With the cool temps, I tried out the River to River Greenway through the southern St Paul suburbs. I couldn't find how to get on it on the west side but it turns out that section is under construction. (Lots of bike trail construction happening in this area.) The part that was open was nice, hilly, parks, and one park heavily wooded (Kapoosia). Got a quick view of a smaller blue colored bird I couldn't identify. 35 miles total.

My wife read a post from someone making the bold claim that a restaurant that shall not be named had better pizza than Broders.

We went to this restaurant and when I saw "pinneaple" and "buffalo chicken" on the menu, I already knew. Crust was too thin and cracker-like, sauce was way too sweet.

Just go to Broders.

This made me proud of my adopted state of 34 years. Author, formerly of the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press, brings the receipts.

Long read but well worth it.

Rankings reveal Minnesota as a better state in a precarious nation

Debunking myths about Minnesota takes understanding the state's strengths and the truth behind its portrayal as a failed state.

Rode 42 mi (68 km) on my e-bike over the weekend to and from the Twin Cities Bird Festival at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park. Will post a few photos over the next few days!

It was a beautiful day so I went for a longer ride. 46mi. Anything over 40 mi is pretty uncomfortable for me right now but it's still early in the season and hopefully my stamina stat will increase with experience. Photos included from both ends of the ride for the haters.

I've seen lots of turkeys in #stpaul but mostly around Summit Hill a few blocks from Dale and Selby. They've moved closer to us, now -- this at Saint Clair and Cretin.

Personally, I would take more turkeys for fewer rabbits. The rabbit population around here is just bonkers. When I do my morning walks, most yards will have one to three rabbits just sitting there. You see them all day, too.
Writing that, it makes me think we could use some urban foxes. Years back there was a family of foxes whose den was literally under the State Capitol in Madison -- foxes can and do live in urban areas.

...which makes me wonder: why don't you see more of them? It seems like basic predator-prey population dynamics. Think of the classic Lotke-Volterra model. A few foxes could make their way into the urban area here, feast like kings, and reproduce like...er...rabbits.
