Archery practice for me today, while the kid was getting coached as part of the club's juniors group.

I'm getting some condition back so had much less difficulty with fatigue than I had last week, and got through 16 ends over an hour and a half or so. I'm still getting used to using the clicker, but I did hit mostly red at 30 metres distance which isn't too bad for me. I would like to be consistently hitting mostly gold though, which I have done in the past at this distance.

The kid and I cycled to and from the range today, we're really lucky to be within easy cycling range of the club. It's a really nice ride too, off road shared use paths almost the entire way. At 3.2 km on level ground each way it makes for a good gentle warm up and warm down.

I was thinking that a "Heated rivalry" spin off for the cycling world would increase the popularity of the sport into other demographics, but I was just informed by my partner that the internet is one step ahead of me.

Apparently Archive of our Own has quite a large selection on slash fiction about Pogacar/Vingegaard and Van Aert/van der Poel.

So I guess we only need to put it on Netflix now...

A1. My preference is for dynamos but the practical reality is I use lights with built-in batteries. Cateye lights for utility cycling (great range of spare parts) and Exposure lights for everything else (high quality and exceptional customer service).

I would invest in a PedalCell dynamo for cycle touring, having been impressed with its performance. Unfortunately, the company folded. I hope someone buys the patent and brings it back.

We had a great time riding around Lake Union during my history ride today. There were some challenges with the opening of the boating season, but we made do and navigated through it to see some interesting sites. Thanks everyone for coming!

@ascentale @bikenite A8: I stopped by Green Lake in the middle of my workout ride on Thursday. It was so nice and warm, I felt like laying on the pier for a nap. Except it was my bike that did. ๐Ÿ˜†

I tried posting something else two different times letโ€™s see if this works.

The paps Emmy and sully on a ride this afternoon with me. Pretty hot. We all 3 drank most of our water.

It finally happened. #ebike battery dropped from half-charged to dead mid-journey and I had to pedal 50 kg of longtail 8 km home.

This calls for ice cream. #biketooter

Changed up my Saturday routine by biking to the fledgling meetup of the Nashville Feminist Bird Club. Really fun time - I know nothing about birds, but people would jump in and point out a bird and help with identification. Good vibes. Afterwards we went to a block party in our neighborhood, with lots of live music as per usual here. #BikeTooter #StreetsAreForPeople
The fellow my age on today's ride #biketooter stated "but of course you have a car."
Well, no.
How do you do groceries ?!?!?!
"look at my bike."
I mean, I'm on an Xtracycle with a huge honking crate in the back. YES today I did by the small toilet paper b/c I hadn't prepped for high volume, but the 12-pack of La Croix and the 12-pack of Voodoo Range: one on each side, then one bag full next to them, then one other thing stuffed in on one side, then two things in the crate on top that could have been more had I prepped. Yea, toilet paper had to kinda be stuffed under a strap.
"What if you..." well, I answered them all. YES I could carry a microwave, but mainly: you figure it out! Yea, the computer monitor from the little computer shop that does the University peeps... and it was summer? The guy said "let me check with the boss" and ... brought it to my house. I could have just taken it on the bus.
Now, he did say, "do you have kids?" And I had to acknowledge... no... but when I mentioned payin' down the mortgage wickedly fast w/ what I saved... that actually gave him pause ;)
