General government deficit down to 28.9 billion euros in 1st half of 2025
The financial deficit (net borrowing) of general government amounted to 28.9 billion euros in the 1st half of 2025. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that general government deficit was therefore 19.4 billion euros lower than in the 1st half of 2024, according to provisional results. Measured as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices, the deficit ratio was 1.3% in the first six months of 2025.
